The author of the FL Studio Cookbook is Shaun Friedman, pictured above.
At around 5 years old, Shaun was bestowed the Casio SK-8 small sampling keyboard. This was a small contraption,
but interestingly enough, prepared Shaun for what he would be doing for the next 20 years!
Creating music, no matter the vessel of production, consists of sequencing, arranging, overdubbing, rhythm,
mixing, and triggering.
During his teenage years, Shaun also learned music production using keyboards, midi, and analog equipment. Notice he’s not a Millennial; rather, he grew up in the 1980s, and saw the
transition from the analog to digital worlds. Cassettes and vinyl to CDs, landline phones and rotary to pagers and cell phones, Atari and
Sega into PlayStation, Xbox, and virtual.
Music from analog equipment to being featured on a computer system.
