How To Strengthen Concrete
Increase the strength of concrete and extend its service life by sealing it with the L3000 concrete densifier and hardener.
WHY CONCRETE LOSES ITS STRENGTH
Concrete can lose its strength and structural integrity for a variety of reasons, including:
1. Exposure to road salts, de-icing salts and water.
2. Poor concrete mixture or installation.
3. Constant surface abrasion.
4. Constant saturation of water and moisture.
5. Dramatic changes in temperature.
INCREASING THE STRENGTH OF CONCRETE
New Concrete – If the strength and structural integrity of the concrete has not yet been compromised, the use of a concrete densifier, like the Armor S2000 or Armor L3000, will fill in the pores with Calcium Silicate Hydrate and increase the strength of the concrete by up to 45%. These densifiers won’t change the look of the concrete as they work entirely below the surface. The S2000 and L3000 are guaranteed for a lifetime.
What’s the difference? The Armor S2000 has a base chemical of sodium silicate and the Armor L3000 has a base chemical of lithium silicate. Sodium silicates are used in basement waterproofing and sealing exterior concrete, Lithium silicates are used in industrial jobs for sealing concrete floors prior to polishing.
INCREASING THE STRENGTH OF CONCRETE
Old, Damaged Concrete – If the concrete has cracking and spalling issues, repairing the concrete will be a multi-step process:
1. Seal the concrete with the Armor S2000 or Armor L3000. This will strengthen the concrete in its current form before you begin the repair process. The sealer will penetrate deeper into through cracks, spall marks and holes.
2. Repair the cracks using the appropriate concrete repair product. Using the right concrete repair product will provide a permanent repair and help to provide structural strength if necessary. If there are no cracks, install a concrete overlay.
3. If an overlay was installed, seal the overlay once cured with the Armor S2000 or Armor L3000.
The Armor S2000 or Armor L3000 waterproof, strengthen, and protect the concrete without changing the look of it. Armor sealers chemically react below the surface to form a crystalline barrier within the pores. This barrier will never break down and is guaranteed to last a lifetime.
