How to setup a ToonBoom Harmony 9.2 Database After you have installed ToonBoom Harmony 9.2, you need to setup your databse to be able to use some of the tools that require it, namely the Scan, Paint, and Xsheet modules.     A. Preparation tasks

    Open the Configuration Wizard by double clicking on the Icon that you have setup in step.1. Alternativelyyou can open the Configuration Wizard by double clicking on the usa_nt_wiz.exe file that is located in the'..\Toon Boom Animation\Harmony 9.2\nt\bin\' folder. This will open up the Toon Boom HarmonyConfiguration Wizard as shown in the image above.

    B. Open Configuration Wizard

    Now click on the setup button (highlighted above in the image). The Toon Boom Harmony: DatabaseCreation page opens (image below)

  • C. Create the database

    This page is to specify what type of database setup will be done on this system.You can either specify a clientor server type. A Client type is used to connectto a remote database. A Server/Standalone type creates alocal database on this system

    1. Select the Server/Standalone radio button2. Click Next >This will bring up the following Warning Dialog.

  • Click OKThis will bring up the Toon Boom Harmony: Database Location page

    D. Set the Database Location

    This page is to specifiy on which local drive a new EMPTY Toon Boom Harmony database will be created.The Toon Boom Harmony database directory usa_db is always created in the root of the specified disk. Theusa_db database directory is shared under the name usa_db.1. Select the drive on which you want the database to be created. Note: As a rule of thumb, select the drive on which you have a lot of space.2. In the username, and password fields (What is the userName?, What is the User Password?), type in theAdministrator Username and Password that you use to log-in to your current machine. Note: This is the Windows Administrator Username/Password. This will allow you as an administrator tocreate the database and subsequently install the server as a service that will automatically start when you startwindows.3. Click Next>This will open the Toon Boom Harmony: Scene Data Location page.

  • E. Set the Scene Data Location

    This page is to specifiy on which local drives the Toon Boom Harmony scene data directories will be locatedand shared on the network. The user must specify at least one drive with a valid name. For each, the directoryand share will be created with the specified name.

    1. In the highlighted filesystem section, you will see that FileSystem000 is already created for you. So youneed not do anything here. Leave it as is.Note: if you want a number of filesystems, you can use the Add button to create more filesystems. But if youdo not know how to use these, I suggest you leave this setting as is.2. The Share field allows you to define a folder that will be shared on the network. This is where every useron the network who connects to the Harmony Databse will get its files fromand save its files into. You canleave the share name as usadata000 if you wish.3. In the Host Computer field, your computer name should already be populated. Ensure that it is correct.4. In the User Name and Password fields, provide the Windows Administrator Username/Password thatyou provided in the previous step5. Click Next >Thsi will bring up the Toon Boom Harmony: Review page

    F. Review your settings

  • 1. Toon Boom Harmony: Review page, review the settings that you have provided to ensure that they arecorrect.2. Click Finish.This will bring up a message box mentioning that the database has been created Successfully. Now yo areready to run all the programs that would not run in standalone mode.If you get a message that the database creation failed, that could meana. You do not have administrative rights on the system on which you are creating the database, orb. You have provided incorrect username/password in the previous stepsGo back and try again and ensure that the above 2 points are taken care of.

    G. Ensure that the database server is setup correctly

  • Zoom

    Open control panel by using the control panel shortcut (See the preparation tasks at the start of thisdocument)Ensure the following

    1. The username field shows the Windows Administrative Password (in the format .\password) that youhave provided in previous steps and is correct.2. The Install button is iinactive and the Remove button is active. This means that the Database Server hasbeen installed as a service correctly.3. The Start button is inactive and the Stop button is active. This means that the Database Service has alreadystarted

    You can also do the following to ensure that Database Service is Installed and has started.

    H. Ensure that Database Service is Installed and has started.

    Zoom1. Open the Services Window from control panel > Administrative tools

  • 2. Check to see that the HarmonyStarter0-tbdserver service has started

    Zoom3. Now you can open the Configuration Editor (See preparation Tasks at the start of this document to findthe shortcut) to verify the server settings.

    I. Open Control Center

    Open Control Center. You will be Presented with the following Database Login dialog

  • 1. Ensure that usabatch is filled in the User Name field2. Click LoginThis will bring up the Control Center application as shown below
