How to Set Word to Identify Passive Voice in Word for MACs

1. Open your document.

2. Click on Word then scroll down and click on Preferences

3. In Preferences Click on Spelling and Grammar

4. In Spelling and Grammar Click on Writing Style drop down box. Select ‘Formal’ option.

5. With style on ‘Formal’, click on ‘Settings’. In Settings check all the ‘Require’ options

that you prefer to have Word automatically evaluate for you. + Be sure to scroll the

‘Grammar and Style Options’ list inside the box and check off your preferences:

6. Almost done! Run your paper through the updated Spelling and Grammar setting. The

wavy green lines indicate where the paper is not aligned to the settings.
