How to reset Porsche 996 steering angle sensor with PIWIS cable

New Porsche PIWIS diagnostic cable is possible to project multi-function, like reset service

reminder, monitoring actual values etc. Here is the instruction on calibrating steering angle sensor

with PIWIS cable.

Tool needs:

Porsche Durametric PIWIS diagnostic cable

A laptop running Windows XP home

Instruction:

1) Turn the vehicle ignition ON with engine OFF

2) Install the PWISI cable software

3) Connect the Porsche PWISI cable with vehicle via OBD socket

4) Run Porsche PIWIS cable software. Select your vehicles model, for 996 TT owners, 7.8ME and

ABS 5.7

5) Select ABS 5.7

6) Continue operation until the system displays the steering angle sensor re-calibration screen

7) Park your car to the horizontal position, run your car into a straight line and turn your steering

wheel to straight

8) Stop the car without moving the steering

9) Put the angle locator in the middle of the steering wheel, and adjust the angle locator to 0

degrees. Hold angle locator with both hands while holding the steering wheel, make sure it’s

reading 0 degrees.

10) Call someone ales to press at the steering calibration and then press OK when the system

prompt windows notice.

11) Turn steering 20 degrees left and then right, then return to 0 degrees, holding the angle locator

with both hands and turning the wheel at the same time.

12) Turn ignition off, remove key from the key hole.

13) Exit the Piwis cable software.
