If the LCD screen on your camera says “There are no files” when there should be files. Or if the LCD says “ Card Error” that’s when you need to reformate your memory card.
The process may vary from camera to camera, but this presentation will help you to understand the basic process.
Step #1
First make sure your camera is set to shooting mode. (Make sure there are NO pictures on your memory card!!!!)
Step #2 Second press
the menu button on your camera, and scroll down the menu until you come to the word that says “Format” and press ok.
Step #3 After pressing the
ok button a screen will come up that asks you to reaffirm formatting your card. Press the ok button again.
Step #4 The final step is to
simply wait. The camera will do the rest.

When the card is finished being formatted the normal screen for shooting pictures will come up which means you have finished reformatting your card!!!
Extra TidbitMake sure you reformat your card regularly. This reformatting of your card will open up available memory. In a way, your memory card is like a computers hard drive it needs to be cleanup, and maintained. The way you clean up and maintain your computer hard drive is to defrag it. In the same way you need to “defrag” your memory card by reformatting it regularly.
