would need positioned in and around the school in order to realistically evaluate staff response and your P.A.’s audibility and intelligibility

• Provide evaluators with an evaluation sheet stating what areas you are seeking to evaluate• Make sure to leave room for them
to write their observations
• Ask evaluators to document their observations very specifically as well as their location assignment
• Remind evaluators that this is a drill and is not about trying to catch staff/students doing anything wrong as much as revealing our gaps
• Remind parent evaluators that they are not to discuss their observations with staff members directly as that is not their responsibility
• Release evaluators to their positions

¨ We must validate that our lockdown drills are effective by evaluating our staff’s response when they occur
¨ Evaluating your lockdown drills will make your staff more confident during an extreme act of violence such as a school shooting
¨ Start your school year with a static lockdown and then gradually implement lockdown drills during more challenging school times– A passing period lockdown drill should be your
eventual goal!¨ To respond to a reality event we must train realistically!
