 In this article, lets focus on how to prepare for Text Completion and Sentence Equivalence.As far as Text completion and Sentence Equivalence is concerned, candidates project a tendency to rush in and choose the wrong answer under the presumption that their choice might be good enough, which is a grave mistake to commit. There is a perfect answer for all the questions and one must be patient enough and try to understand the meaning before answering.If you have an outstanding vocabulary and, are aware of the meanings of 1100 high-frequency words specified in Barron’s (App can be downloaded from Google Play), then this section should be a piece of cake, but the reality is very different. Invariably, most of the students tend to answer this section by gaining an understanding of the context. While there is no harm in following this procedure, it must be noted that the margin for error is really high.

In such cases, it is highly recommended that you the questions over and over again. If the question consists of 3 or more sentences, it is advisable to break the passage into short pieces and proceed from one to the another.Once you have gained a perfect understanding of the meaning the sentence implies, try to fill in the blanks with your own choice of word instead of looking at the options provided. If you are able to do that, look into the options and try to identify the word that is the closest in meaning. Your choice of word might be one of the words in the options list. In that case, well done!

You have understood the question really well and that is what you should aspire to. Practice to an extent where you end up knowing the meanings of all the high frequency words without having to memorize them. Apart from helping with regards to this section, as we had pointed out earlier, all the sections in GRE verbal feed of one another, and improvement in one is certainly going to benefit other areas as well.
