THREE EASY WAYS TO RAISE MONEY FOR SAVE THE CHILDREN1 GET SPONSORED

Use the sponsorship form in your Fundraising Pack to help your children get sponsored to do their walk. Return your completedform to us using the Freepostenvelope in this pack. Or set up your own JustGiving page online and share with friends and family. Why not invite others to join your walk and jump in muddy puddles together?

2 DONATE

Simply ask for an affordable donation from everyone who’s on your Muddy Puddle Walk. Make donating fun by getting everyone to throw their pennies and pounds into a puddle and make a wish, for a £1 donation!

3 RAISE EVEN MORE

Here are some ideas to take your fundraising even further – and remember to invite parents and other grown-ups along to join in the fun.

• Hold a Muddy Puddle Pie sale (try out Granny Pig’s recipe – see our online resources).

• Get people to guess the number of sweets in the jar in exchange for a donation.

• Hold a facepainting stall at your walk, and ask for donations.

• Hold a raffl e and give away Peppa prizes to the winners.*

LET’S GET READY DADDY PIG’S MUDDY PUDDLE WALK GOLDEN RULES

Excited about your Muddy Puddle Walk but not sure where to start? Don’t worry – Daddy Pig has some expert advice to help you plan.

Top tips to plan your walk• Decide on a date between 23 and 29 April:

Or pick a different date that works for you.

• Decide how you’ll raise money:Create a JustGiving page and share on your Facebook page and/or group. Go to JustGiving.com to set up a page to raise funds for Save the Children, then select ‘Peppa Pig’s Muddy Puddle Walk’ as the event you’re taking part in.

• Get other family members and friends along and spread the word: Get children to decorate invitation cards (available online – see link below) to give to grandparents and friends, and display the posters in this pack.

• Pick a safe route that’s not too diffi cult for little legs – we suggest half a mile. Indoors or out? The choice is yours.

• Plan fun activities to get children ready for the big day, using the ideas on the activity sheet in this pack.

• Share our template press release with your local radio and newspaper to make your walk famous! Find it online.

£55 could pay for a food basket for a family caught up in a disaster – like a drought or earthquake – giving them enough to eat for an entire month

£200 could pay for essentials for a nursery class of 50 children in Rwanda in Africa – including books, toys, learning materials, mats, and training for a teacher

£400 could pay for fi ve goats for fi ve families in Ethiopia, providing them with a source of milk, meat and income

Explore the woodsSet up a nature table and encourage children to collect leaves and sticks from the woods on their walk to put on it. At the end of the walk encourage children to talk about the shapes, smells and characteristics of the things they found.

WHAT SORT OF WALK WILL YOU DO?

Help Peppa fifind her friendsIndoors or outdoors, encourage children to find Peppa Pig characters on your walk using our list of Peppa characters and cut outs. Find them in the scavenger hunt activity in this pack.

Transform your playgroundWhen it comes to playground games, Madame Gazelle is a professional. How about using hula hoops, sandpits and troughs of mud to create a Muddy Puddle Walk in your back garden or local playground.

An indoor expeditionGranny Pig has a very active imagination and loves playing with Peppa and George. Why not use your imagination to create an adventure indoors? Encourage children to draw, paint or use glitter to decorate their own puddles to create your walk path at home. Download a puddle template at savethechildren.org.uk/mpwresources

Make your own muddy puddles Help the children to mix soil and water, and ask them questions to stimulate their curiosity. What has happened when you mixed them together? What does the mixture feel like?

LUCIALucia is from a country in Africa called Malawi. Lucia’s three. She loves playing with her friends. At nursery school she’s given a bowl of healthy porridge every day by a Save the Children worker. That’s really important for Lucia because lots of children in her country don’t get enough to eat.

By taking part in Peppa Pig’s Muddy Puddle Walk you can help children like Lucia have lots of fun at nursery school and get healthy food to eat.

IBRAHIMIbrahim is three. He comes from a country called Iraq. Ibrahim and his family had to run away from their village because it was being attacked by soldiers. They managed to escape. Now they’re living in a tent in a refugee camp. Save the Children has built a playground and a library at the camp for Ibrahim and other children. We’re also providing them with clothes and blankets to keep warm. Ibrahim’s dad says the children here feel safe and are happy again.

ESSEEsse is two and lives in a country in Africa called Somalia. His family are farmers who look after goats. But there hasn’t been any rain here for months and that’s made it very difficult for farmers to grow food or feed their animals. Esse and his family didn’t have enough to eat. Esse became sick and had to go to hospital. Save the Children health workers looked after him. Now he’s much better. “He’s doing really well,” says his father.

AMENAAmena and her family had to leave their home because of a war. They set off across the sea in a little boat to try to get to Italy. But when they were in the middle of the sea the engine on the boat stopped working.

Fortunately, Amena and her family were saved by workers from a special Save the Children rescue boat. They brought Amena, who is five, to safety. But she wasn’t very well. She was having trouble breathing because she has very bad asthma. She was taken to hospital to be looked after.
