Day 1 Summary

On Day 1 of the institute we will focus on foundational aspects of preventing and intervening with inappropriate and off-task behaviors. We will learn how to shift our attitudes towards misbehaving students and then use concrete strategies to get and keep kids on task. And we will learn how to effectively use consequences when these preventative measures aren’t effective.

Day 2 Summary

On Day 2 of the institute we will focus on instructional design. We will learn dozens of simple yet creative ways to break up our instruction and engage students into their learning, as well as the research behind the techniques. We will also learn how to be more clear and consistent in what we ask for and how we ask for it, so that we get what we want, when we want it.

Day 3 Summary

On Day 3 of the institute we extend the learning from days 1 and 2 by looking at how to break cycles of misbehavior with chronically difficult students and how to increase student participation. In addition we will look at managing our own stress and we will end with a review of some planning resources for implementing and or sharing what you have learned.
