HOW TO MAKE

THE ULTIMATE CINNAMON VELVET HOT

CHOCOLATE

We have reached the end of the week and yes it is definitely time for indulgence. As

we are well and truly into winter it seemed only right to make what has to be my kids’

favourite drink and one of mine for that matter....

Velvet really is the best way to describe this sensational cinnamon hot chocolate

drink which turns any winter’s day into a bright sunny day!

You will need : -

4 cups milk

1 cup chocolate (cut into shavings)

2 tbsp powdered sugar

2 tbsp cornstarch

1 pinch cinnamon

1 cinnamon stick

marshmallow fluff (optional)

whipped cream (optional)

grated chocolate (optional)

To begin with just pour the milk into a pan and immerse one cinnamon stick and heat

on medium to high heat for 10 minutes.

Whilst this is heating up, combine the powdered sugar, cornstarch and a

generous pinch of cinnamon...smells divine...then separately cut your chocolate into

shavings ready for later...

once the milk has heated for the 10 minutes, remove the cinnamon stick and ladle

1/2 cup of your cinnamon infused milk into the powdered sugar, cornflour and

cinnamon mixture and mix until there are no lumps.

Now add this mixture into your warm cinnamon milk along with your shards of

chocolate shavings and gently whisk whilst over a moderate heat for around 8

minutes...until it is frothy and slightly thickened.

Now it’s ready to serve but if your kids are like mine they will love the (optional) next

step of topping with a small spoon of marshmallow fluff (an essential ingredient if you

want to send this over the top), whipped cream and grated chocolate and...

sometimes the odd mini marshmallow....not sure whether theirs should be

called a drink or a dessert!
