Complexity Theory IIT Kanpur Fall 2013 Present Complexity of Isolating a Perfect Matching in K3,3-free graphs (Mentor: Prof. Raghunath Tewari) Constructing skew-symmetric polynomial weight function for directed K3,3-free graphs so that all cycles get non-zero weight Such a construction would prove that problem of finding perfect matching in K3,3 or K5-free graphs is in complexity class SPL

Crowdsourcing and HCI Adobe Research, India Lab Summer 2013 Crowdsourced Analysis of Images on Social Media Conducted experiments on micro-task platform CrowdFlower to study effects of task design on efficacy of crowdsourcing Developed a novel Game With A Purpose (GWAP), PicCharades: tags images and simultaneously locates tags within them Applied gamification theory to provide entertainment value, traditional game elements and social incentives to players Analyzed results indicating that GWAP performs significantly better (about 10% more) in terms of annotation accuracy

Natural Language Processing IIT Kanpur Spring 2012 Cross Lingual Word Sense Disambiguation (Mentor: Prof. Amitabha Mukerjee) Aimed to sense-tag ambiguous words in Hindi Wikipedia articles, using data from corresponding English Wikipedia articles Inspected novel method to utilize English WordNet and relatively scarce Hindi WordNet to transfer sense information Achieved tagging accuracy of 81% (compared to 68% in similar referenced work) while recall can be further improved

C++ Compiler Design Spring 2013

Implemented a working compiler for a subset of C++ language features using C++, Lex/Yacc for MIPS architecture Built all compiler modules - lexer, parser (with error checking grammar), symbol table and code generator - from scratch

Stock Image Management System Spring 2013 Utilized PHP and PostgreSQL to build stock image management system, along with frontend website using HTML5 Maintained redundant database entries for query efficiency, coupled with PL/pgSQL procedures to ensure data integrity

Extensions to PintOS System Fall 2012 Extended barebones operating system to add features for system calls, inter-process communication using shared memory
