On June 29, 2009 Cittaslow International has become a Supporting Structure of the Covenant of Mayors as network
of local and regional authorities
The Covenant of Mayors is an initiative of European Commission that is focused on a commitment by signatory towns and cities to go beyond
the objectives of EU energy policy in terms of reduction in CO2 emissions through enhanced energy efficiency and cleaner
energy production and use

Promoting the adherence of the City of its network at the Covenant of Mayors
Cittaslow as a Supporting structure aims to:
The Covenant of Mayors initiative is presented to the city council or equivalent decision-making body.
The city council formally adopts the Covenant of Mayors and mandates the mayor (or other representative of the city council) to sign the adhesion form.
The city council informs the Commission about its decision by sending a message to the Covenant of Mayors Office mailbox.
The city council receives a confirmation by e-mail with information about the next steps.
The procedure to join the initiative is as follows:
