Membership dues are paid at registration and help pay for rehearsal space, salaries for our Artistic Director and rehearsal pianist, and concert expenses. DUES: $100 for all three concerts, or $40 for each concert. Student dues are $20 for each concert or $50 for the season. WHERE TO GET MUSIC: Members are asked to pay for their own music, which the Chorale will have available for purchase at our rehearsals. WHEN WE REHEARSE: Rehearsals are from 7:30-9:00 on Monday nights. Extra rehearsals may be scheduled, including Saturday pre- concert rehearsals with the musicians. Electronic devices should be leſt home or silenced. Please do not wear perfume, aſtershave or other scents to rehearsals or performances. WHAT TO WEAR: Concert dress for women is black attire which covers the arms and legs, and black shoes suitable for standing on risers. Men’s dress is a dark suit or tuxedo, white shirt and black bow tie, with black shoes and socks. “LUX AETERNA” – MORTEN LAURIDSENAmerican composer Lauridsen’s work is more widely performed than that of any other contemporary choral composer; this is one of his best known works.

We’ll also perform a Bach Cantata, with soloists and a small orchestral ensemble. Another, shorter work will be chosen to fill out the program.

Rehearsals begin on Monday, November 30 with registration at 7 PM

Our additional spring concert will be a change of pace for the Metropolitan Chorale: a lively collection of pops, jazz, Broadway, and American standards. Chorale members will take part in choosing pieces for this concert – start thinking now about which of your favorite songs you’d like us to include!

“TE DEUM” – ANTONIN DVORAKA festive work inspired by a Latin hymn, it was first performed in New York City in October, 1892, with Dvorak himself conducting.

“TRYPTICH” – TARIK O’REGANContemporary British composer Tarik O’Regan says he’s influenced by Renaissance motets, North African rhythms, and Led Zeppelin.

PLUS a brand new work by Iowa born Andrew Boysen, commissioned by the Metropolitan Chorale! We’ll perform it with the UNI Singers and UNI Band at their Fall Concert, as well as at our own Sunday concert.

A WONDERFUL NEW PLACE TO SING!We’ve found a new rehearsal home! First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls has graciously agreed to host our Monday night rehearsals. The seating is comfortable, the piano is tuned, and the acoustics are outstanding. Plus, there are good spaces for sectional rehearsals and plenty of parking!
