How to Install and use the Client on Macintosh
(Please note that Pulse Secure is not supported on any versions earlier than OS X 10.8,
also known as OS X Mountain Lion.)
1. To begin installing Pulse Secure, navigate to the library’s homepage at: https://www.library.ucdavis.edu.
2. Select: Access VPN (located in the top right corner of the page).

3. Scroll down to Mac OS X and select the link “Get the client for Mac OS X”
URL/Server- vpn.library.ucdavis.edu.

4. Your favorite browser should download automatically the “PulseSecure.dmg file”.

5. Now, open the PulseSecure.pkg file; which will start the Pulse Secure Installation.

6. Click Continue and Install.

7. When prompted for your password, enter the password you used to log in to your
device, then select “Install Software”.

8. Once the set-up is complete, click close.
9. Navigate to the App drawer and open PulseSecure.pkg.

10. (The Pulse Secure icon should appear at the top of your page in the menu bar, or at the bottom, depending on your device).
Click the Pulse Secure icon, then, click the + icon to create a connection.

11. The default for Type should say “Policy Secure (UAC) or Connect Secure (VPN)”;
do not change this setting.
12. In the textbox for “Name:”, enter a name to your liking (i.e., Library VPN).
13. In the textbox for “Server URL:” enter “vpn.library.ucdavis.edu”, and click “Add”.

14. You should see the connection you created under your connection list.
15. To start the connection hit Connect.

16. A window should pop up asking you to enter your UC Davis Kerberos login
credentials; after typing your credentials, click “Connect”

17. Once the log in is complete you are now connected. (Select Disconnect, to end the
connection).
