How to grow Raspberries

Raspberries like well drained soils and free of weeds.

Plant your raspberry canes in a sunny position.

They do not like shade.

You can buy summer fruiting plants which will provide fruit

early summer and autumn fruiting plants which will provide fruits

August to October.

You can buy the fruit canes ready to plant.

These need to be placed in a hole

the depth of the pot.

Draw the soil around the plant make sure this is compacted

around the plant. You can do this using your foot.

Each plant should be 18inches apart.

Raspberry canes like to be supported.

Put a cane next to each plant and tie a small piece of string or

plastic tie around both.

When the season is over leave the plants until February and then cut them back to ground

level. This will allow new shoots to grow.
