The Quartering Act 1765

• The Quartering Act was an indirect tax for the colonist. Under the law, the colonist had to give quarters, food, and transportation to the British soldiers.

Stamp Act repealed, but on the same day parliament passes the Declaratory Act asserting its right to make laws on the colonies.

• After the Boston Tea Party, Britain closed Massachusetts Bay, and restricted the Massachusetts Legislature, giving the governor powers of a dictator.
