First impressions are everything. Most businesses harness event technology to make the most of their event presence and attract potential leads & customers.BUT

HOW?

#1) MAKE A PLAN.What’s your event goal? Leads, hard sales, or just to increase your brand awareness? Credit card readers, tablets, & touch screen displays are great tools, but only if you know when to leverage them.Having a solid goal in mind makes it easier to decide what kind of technology can help you reach it.

#2) TEST RUN.Get your key players together in advance to talk through what each team member expects. What kinds of devices would help each member make his or her event duties easier, and why? Part of being tech savvy is getting several different uses out of a single device, so keep an open mind!

#3) RESEARCH.When attending events, make sure each member of your team takes at least a few minutes to walk the floor. Take mental notes about how each business is using technology, and consider if (and how) the application would translate to your company’s booth.

Is it something that makes sense for you?

#4) PLAN FOR EXTRAS. Computers and tablets turn into expensive paperweights when their batteries die. Plan to bring chargers and any other add-ons you might need – security cables, credit card readers, extra monitors or tablets in case one malfunctions, A/C adapters, hardware and shelving are a few things to consider.

#5) STAY CURRENT.A few times a month, browse the tech news section on Google or hit up Mashable Tech for new release highlights. Think about potential trade show applications: EX: A new phablet could keep your event staff organized and reachable. The latest gaming laptop might be the perfect way to draw potential buyers to your game dev booth for an onsite demo!

Moreover…

What works for one business won’t necessarily work for all. Take a look around and get inspired, but do what makes the most logical and financial sense for your business and your booth. Don’t be afraid to get creative!

DO WHAT MAKES SENSE.
