Searching for a topic on the World Wide Web can result in millions of Web site results. Boolean language uses the words “and, not, or” to help you get good search results for your project.

We’re asking the search engine to find results on the combined topic of poverty and crime. In other words, each Website must have information on the combination of poverty & crime. This type of search will result in fewer records that we will retrieve.

cats NOT dogs

We’re asking the search engine to find records ONLY on cats…nothing on dogs. This will give us fewer Web sites to read.
