Access the LibGuide via the Library website:

Click on a year to view reading list(s) for that year

Click on a book title to view catalogue record i.e. details of how many copies the library has

If book is available as an e-book, click on title to open e-book version

2. How to find a book whose title/author you know

You can check if the Library has copies of specific books by searching the Library catalogue, QCat Discover.

Access QCat Discover via the Library website:

http://www.qub.ac.uk/lib

Type book title and author’s surname into QCat Discover search box; click ‘Search’ arrow

Click book title to view full catalogue record

All copies of book are displayed. ‘Check Shelf’ = copy is available

to borrow

If book is available electronically, click ‘Queen’s Online Resource’

to open e-book

3. How to find a book on a particular topic

You can use the library catalogue, QCat Discover, to carry out a topic search.

Access QCat Discover via the Library website:

Type topic into QCat Discover search box; click ‘Search’ arrow

Click ‘Print book’ or ‘E-Book’ to view only results in these formats

4. How to request/recommend a book If all the library’s copies of a book are already out on loan, you can reserve a copy by clicking ‘Request it’ in the book record

To request a book that the library doesn’t have, click ‘Request an Inter-Library Loan’ in bottom right-hand corner of QCat Discover

To recommend that the library buys a particular book, please email full details, including ISBN, to your Subject Librarian:
