Five Steps
Read Pretty easy, if you got the abc’s down in kindergarten. Then again, you’re not reading “Green Eggs and Ham.”
Five Steps
Read
While these may be ‘short’ novels, you won’t be able to finish it in the car on the way to school, or, in your case, five minutes before chat starts.
Five Steps
Read
We’ll take two weeks on most novels.* My recommendation: read at least one hour every day, Monday-Saturday--take a break on Sunday; its good for you.
*For the first novel, The Overcoat, you only get one week to read it.

Characters Glossary
We’re going to keep tabs of the characters in each story
by doing a little exercise.
Character Example: GandalfHere’s what we want to remember about him
So, let’s give it a try…
1. character's appearance (head to toe)
2. relationship to other main characters
3. good or bad qualities4. what he or she
desires
Example: Gandalf1. Old wizard, wears
long rough cloak, tall pointed hat, silver beard, carries staff
2. Friend to all good creatures, enemy of Sauron and all his minions
3. Wise, powerful, encouraging; short temper, sometimes late
4. Desires to help preserve Middle Earth

Events Wiki
To keep track of the main events in each novel we are going to create a “Wiki”. *
*Wiki is a Hawaiian word that means ‘fast’. And trust me, we’ve chosen just the right word for this assignment.
First, click the link.
Then, read instructions.
Summarize (briefly) an important event.
Save it.
Now your event is up. Can you say “wiki” (i.e. fast)!
What if all the big events are taken? Or what if I disagree about someone’s
take on an event?
Make your opinion known by clicking here.
Post your take on the event underneath the first.

Click the ‘Reader Poll’ link.
Tell us what you thought. Again, be honest.
Don’t worry, it won’t hurt your grade (or improve it).
