Introduction:-

Language is one type of system which is created by man for communication. We can express our feelings, ideas through language.

Language as a skill:-

Language is a skill rather than a subject, because it is the matter of practicing rather than knowing. A child learns language by acquiring the spoken words. Then he tries to reproduce sound which he has heard. Then the ability to read and write are matter of literacy. We acquire language through four skills as under,

- listening

-Speaking

- Writing

- Reading

How to develop listening skills

• What is listening?

Listening is receiving language through ears.

• Listening is the fist of the four language skills,

• Listening involves identifying the sounds of speech and processing them into words and sentences.

• Listening in any language requires focus and attention.

• What is speaking skill?

Speaking is the delivery of language through the mouth.

• By speaking, we create sounds using many parts of our body, including the Lungs, vocal chords, tongue, teeth and lips.

• What is reading skill?

“Reading” is the process of looking at a series of written symbols and getting meaning from them.
