How to Create a SQL DB in Microsoft Azure

1) Go to the CSU Microsoft Imagine Store and get a student subscription to Microsoft Azure

Go to your cart, check out, then click the link below to go to the Azure portal:

Click “Activate now”, then it will ask you to login with your CSU ID and password

2) Create a database in the Azure Portal by following the instructional video below (start the video

around 32:10)

Recommendations:

• Database name: COMPANY

• Subscription: Azure for Students

• Server Name: csu[yourIDnumber]

• Pricing Tier: Basic, 2 GB

• Remember to add your Client IP to the firewall whitelist as shown in the video- this will

allow you to can connect to your server through SSMS (SQL Server Management Studio)
