• Choose well - Free vs Paid
• Select the right format – drinks, workshop, talk, panel discussion
• Virtual event is a serious contender – webinar, hangout
• People attend events for the experience
• Feedback is your goldmine

2. Set clear objectives
• Set your objectives – would organising events make sense?
• Acquisition (GA at Web Summit) vs Loyalty (Yelp Elite)
• Alone or with partners?
• Weekly, monthly or once a year?
• Evangelise or sell?

3. Smart partnerships
• Co-organising events with established players
• Interesting keynote speakers (TED speaker, big CEO, etc)
• Well known moderators
• Renowned or iconic venues
• High profile sponsors
Tip: Tap into followers or your partners and involve them
4. Event hacking
• Research upcoming events, conferences & award ceremonies
• Make a list of the most relevant ones for your target audience
• Apply for competitions, awards, record breakings
• Make it known that you welcome opportunities to speak
• Convert local audiences and reward them (e.g. GA)
• Encourage customer forums and open discussions
