Completed Project Book

• Complete Activities and Recipes• Complete Leadership Experiences• Write neatly. Pencil is fine!• Foods books sometimes get splashes, spills and water damage.

Don’t fret. It is evidence of use!

Project Portfolio• Project specific and is used to enhance a conversation between the

member and a judge about activities the member completed within the project.

• One single sided 8.5x11 page per project area in book. No more.• Pages can be bound in any type of folder or binder or even stapled

together.• Ideas for these pages include journaling, a timeline, and photos taken

during their project, or any other format that would illustrate the work and knowledge of the participant. Each page could be different or can be a combination of styles allowing the 4-H’er to reflect on their learning experience. There will be no points for scrapbooking style.

• Portfolios are judged based on the verbal presentation, organization of the material in the portfolio, inclusion of their efforts in required “Activity or Interest” area pages, and communication with the judge regarding their portfolio.

• The member will present the portfolio to the judge and have the opportunity to explain their active involvement in their project.

Prepared Food Item• Bring Prepared Dish to Serve Judge• 1 serving will be used. Remainder can be kept by project

member.• Keep Hot Foods Hot and Cold Foods Cold. • Judges are prepared to taste food, though in some

circumstances this may not happen.• Recipe does not have to be from book, though the

project book recipes should be used as guidance for difficulty level and type of recipe.

• Recipe as prepared. Please note that because of allergies, care should be taken to note the exact ingredients used in preparation for the food item at judging. Did you use butter, margarine or shortening? What kind of nut?

What to Bring to the Brown County Fair

1. Tablesetting with a centerpiece from July judging2. Menu to display with tablesetting3. Project Portfolio and book to display with Tablesetting.

• All display pieces due to Rhonemus Hall on Sunday from 1-3 pm. You must setup your tablesetting.

• Optional Food Dept Scavenger Hunt is Wednesday at 1 pm. Open to ALL Jr Fair Participants.

• Awards at 3 pm in Rhonemus Hall.

State Fair Guidelines

• Bring Project Portfolio Only• No separate interview, use portfolio to guide a presentation to the

judge about your project• Jr/Sr Division for Beg & Int projects.• Scores available immediately after Awards• Use standard 2000 calorie MyPlate for State Fair Activities
