Investing in young people is crucial forfuture economic development

Over the nextdecade, more thanone billion children

    will make thetransition through

    adolescence intoadulthood.

Current trends suggest that young people will continue to

be poor, with limited opportunities for employment.

Poor education and health for futures workers and consumersleads to unemployment and losses in future production.

The exclusion of millionsof young people from

    decent work can have

security implications whendesperate young fall prey

to warlords, criminalgangs or illegal migrationtraffickers.
