How to assign Appraisers to Appraisees

For Local Administration Teams

(Primary Care)

Appraiser/Appraisee assignment

• It is the Health Boards’ responsibility to pair up Appraiser to Appraisee(s)– Agreed nationally at Scottish Government level– Actioned by the Local Admin teams– With assistance and guidance from Local

Appraisal Advisers (LAAs)• Appraisees CANNOT choose their own

Appraisers• Appraiser assignment requests sent to SOAR

helpdesk will be forwarded to local teams– As we have no involvement in the process

To Allocate an Appraiser to Appraisees

There are two ways to allocate Appraisers:1. Assign Appraiser to Appraisee individually

• Clinical Academic Appraisees will also need a Co-Appraiser assigned to them (more in upcoming slides)

• A Co-ordinator can also be assigned to an Appraisee. Please use PowerPoint #106 – “Set up Appraisal Co-ordinators ” for reference

2. Assign an Appraiser to a group of Appraisees • This can be useful if, for example, you wish to assign a

single Appraiser to a number of GPs in a particular practice

1. Search for the Appraisee and click on their name once found

2. Click on “PC Appraisee” tab3. Assign Appraiser from drop-down menu *4. Click “Save”5. Click “Notify Appraisee / Appraiser of

Assignment” button to send confirmation email to both parties

• If Appraiser not on list, contact SOAR for clarification

• Click on “PC Appraisee” tab

• Select Appraiser from the drop-down menu

• Click “Save”• Click “Notify

Assigning a Co-Appraiser

• Clinical Academic Appraisees require a (University) Co-Appraiser assigned:

• From the “PC Appraisee” tab:1. Select Co-Appraiser from drop-down menu2. Check tick box if Appraisee is a Clinical

Academic• Academic Medicine form is then created for appraisee

3. Click “Save”4. Click “Notify Appraisee / Appraiser & Co-

Appraiser of Assignment” button to send email confirmation to all three parties

• Click on “PC Appraisee” tab

• Select Co-Appraiser from the Primary Care drop-down menu

• Check tick box to enable Academic Medicine form for completion

• Click “Save”• Click “Notify

Assigning an Appraiser to a Group of Appraisees

• To assign an Appraiser to a group of Appraisees (for example a Practice) you can perform a Batch Assignment.

• To assign an Appraiser to a Practice:1. Click on “Practices” from the menu2. Search for the relevant Practice and select it3. A list of all GPs in that Practice will appear. To change

the Appraiser for each use the “Assigned Appraiser” drop-down menu

4. Click “Save”

• Click “Practices”• Search for the Practice, either by

“Practice Name” or “Practice Number”

• Click the relevant Practice Number to select/view details

• You can also Delete Practices, but only if it has no GPs linked to it

• An Appraiser can be assigned to each Appraisee in the Practice using the “Assigned Appraiser” drop-down menu

• Click “Save” when finished
