How to Apply
To apply to the program, applicants must follow both Departmental and Texas A&M University requirements. Applicants will be evaluated by the doctoral program committee and are required to meet all admission criteria in order to be considered for acceptance. Applicants are expected to have experience in school leadership roles.
All applicants are required to complete and return the following items to the Office of Admissions:
• Texas A&M University graduate application and processing fee ($50 for US citizens or permanent residents; $90 for international applicants) available at: www.applytexas.org
• Official transcripts from all previously attended universities indicating previous degree awarded when applicable
• Official TOEFL scores taken within the last two years (international students only)
In addition, the Educational Administration and Human Resource Development Department requires:
• Three letters of recommendation• Current résumé• Minimum one-page letter of intent• An interview and a writing sample

DOCTOR OF EDUCATION IN EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATION PK-12 SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION
The Doctor of Education in Educational Administration, with a focus on PK-12 School Administration, prepares candidates for culturally-responsive leadership, commitment to education, and the skills needed for advanced administrative practice in schools and districts. Candidates are admitted as a cohort and begin in a fall semester. Upon successful completion of the program and approval of faculty, candidates will have completed the course requirements for superintendent certification in the state of Texas and will meet the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) standards for the superintendent certificate, should they choose to take the TExES. exam.
The program provides candidates with the skills needed to equitably serve all students to achieve a high level of success while demonstrating:
• Ethics both personally and professionally• Instructional understandings and strategies that create high-performing schools for a
diverse population of students• Financial management skills• A functional understanding of systems and organizational management• The ability to engage in the policy and political issues that are critical to successful
change and innovation• The ability to evaluate information and determine appropriate courses of action
Record of Study
The Record of Study (ROS) is the culminating research problem of practice for candidates in the program. Work on the ROS is woven into the course of study and will address some aspect of school leadership, management, or instruction. The ROS will have a context of addressing social justice in public education. Candidates will choose from three ROS options: a comprehensive district analysis/redesign; journal-ready articles; or research following traditional dissertation guidelines.
