How Start And Participate In A Star-NY Online Tutoring Session STAR-NY does not support the use of the Internet Explorer Browser. Go to SUNY Adirondack Website

Select to open Online Tutoring - Star-NY

Read the information listed prior to clicking on the link at the top of the Online Tutoring - STAR_NY section.

Clicking the Link will bring you to the STAR-NY online tutoring Web Page which is hosted currently by SUNY System Administration,

Please review all the information contained on this web page before proceeding. Pay particular attention to browser support information that points out NOT TO USE INTERNET EXPLORER. Scroll down to the Page the page and select the Request a Tutor Button

Also if you are having technical issues with the web site email the folks at STAR_NY onlinetutoring@cortland.edu During the 7 to 12 hours of operation there are tutors on duty that will be able to assist you with accessing and using the web site. If you access the site outside of the 7 to Midnight Time frame you will see the following message directing you to return to the site during STAR_NY operating hours.

If you access the site during STAR-NY Operating Hours you will see the following screen when you click on the Request a Tutor Button

If this is your first time accessing STAR NY you will be asked to select your Campus Click the drop down arrow in the Select Campus field and Select Adirondack

Then click the LOGIN Button

You will then be taken to the Login Screen

You would enter your SUNY Adirondack Username and Password Then click the LOGIN BUTTON Click Here For Information on how to look up your SUNY Adirondack Username and Password

You will need to fill out all the required fields and the click the drop down menu on the What Subject do you need help with? item. The subjects that are available at that time will be displayed for you to select from

When everything is filled out correctly click the Continue to Tutoring Button.

You will then have to Read and agree to the End User Licence Agreement.

You will also need to acknowledge that your tutoring session records will be shared with STAR-NY Consortium members for quality control purposes by clicking the Continue Button.

You will will then see the following screen.

For live one on one tutoring Click the Down Arros in the one on one Live Rooms area.

If there is no one in the room at the time receiving live tutoring you can click on the Join Now! Link

If there are people in the queue ahead of you needing tutoring in that subject, you will be placed in a queue to await your turn with the tutor.

Initially you will see a Please Wait Loading screen when your tutoring session begins.

You may also see a message to update and/or allow Adobe Flash. Follow the on screen instructions to activate flash if prompted to do so since this process will vary depending upon your operating system and/or browser.

You will then see the Welcome Message.

After you read the welcome message type in a message for you Tutor in the chat box in the lower right hand portion of the screen.

Your tutor will then use this chat section to assist you in your tutoring session and will provide you with any additional instruction you will need for your tutoring session to be successful. When your session is done, all you have to do is leave the site and your Tutor will close the session.
