How Purdue Can Help you achieve your personal and professional goals
If I was asked this question a year ago, I would have struggled trying to come up with an
answer. In fact, I did not have clearly outlined any personal and professional goals, prior to my
college search. I discovered it by pure chance but the decision to begin my journey to adulthood
at the doorsteps of Purdue was not an act of fate. It was a result of a well thought process of self-
discovery and careful research. After visiting the school and talking to its current and former
students, I was attracted to Purdue’s unparalleled dedication to community service, combined
with top-notch education, and tremendous opportunities to excel in my personal and professional
goals.
Another reason for choosing Purdue is the school’s impeccable reputation in developing
quality professionals, who excel in their chosen area of study. The university is highly regarded
by many prominent companies in Midwest such as Abbott, Baxter and others who are proud to
employ Marquette’s graduates. In addition, the university is unanimously praised on every
college related site I have looked through. It made me realize that this is the place where I can
obtain a first class education and I will be prepared to face the challenges in the area of Human
Resources. I am positive that Marquette’s stellar program in HR will help me reach my goals and
excel in my chosen career.
However, the true reason to choose Marquette over other schools in Midwest is
university’s unprecedented dedication to community service. Almost eighty percent of
Marquette’s students are involved in helping the less fortunate. I have volunteered many weeks
working in my father’s medical office, determined to provide quality care to poor, underserved
patients, who cannot afford medical service. I am humbled to discover a school, which
appreciates volunteer work and teaches young adults one of the most important values of today’s
society – compassion to people.
Sure, there are other reputable schools which offer solid academic preparation and a
vibrant urban lifestyle, but they fall short in their efforts to make the world a better place by
helping people who are less fortunate. If accepted at Marquette, I am positive that I would not
only receive a world class education but I would become one of the most passionate advocates
for community service.
