I was recently talking to a Friendwho is a Civil Engineer & Real

Estate Business man whoexpressed keen interest in hiring

Fresh Graduate. He was notprepared to Train the Engineerfrom Scratch in AutoCAD. Hewas looking to hire a Civil or

Mechanical Engineer withProfessional AUTO CAD

Experience. He requested my expertise be made available to

him. I had to developMethodology to Assess the Worth

of the Job Applicants.

One of the main concern was thesheer number of resumes he

received from an Advertisementhe had placed in a local newspaper

for a Fresh Graduate withMechanical / Civil Engineering &

Auto CAD Experience. He wasfaced with the daunting task of

screening about thousand resumesfor couple of positions. Employers

are faced with such Dilemmaeveryday.

I told him to ask the followingquestion "How many of hours of of Auto CAD System Practice do

you have?" He called eachindividual Job Applicant & askedthem the same question. About

90% of Job Applicants wereClueless. We filtered them out.

Remaining 10% Applicants who

knew the answer could not comeup with a Good Enough Number

of hours. Some Candidates tried tocheat us outright by stating very

large number of hours of practicewhich are impossible for Fresh

Graduates.We filtered them out aswell.

When we hit the sweet spot of Five Potential Candidates wecalled them for an exam on

AUTOCAD Workstation.Interview Questions also included
