Existing promotion packagesIn both of these promotion packages for the film “Avatar” there are a number of common features.Colour: blues and blacks are used, this highlights the skin colour of the characters and immediately invites potential audiences into the “out of this world” (almost alien/space-like) setting.Another iconic feature in both the film poster and the magazine cover is the large pale-green eyes of the characters. The largeness of their eyes could be interpreted as the innocence and vulnerability to a situation that takes place within in the film; in this case this was the deforestation and destruction of the creatures’ home and world.

For the “The rise of the planet of the apes” the most iconic feature is the use of font and the positioning of the words as it is always consistent.

Consistent style • The slogan for the film is used in both the

film poster and the trailer, this making it more iconic and instantly recognizable.

• We used the same female character throughout our promotion package (film poster, trailer and magazine cover).

• The main character is always displayed wearing the colour pink in each poster, indicating that the film is mainly targeted at females.

Magazine promotion

The magazine is able to give an insight into the content of the film. Our cover automatically reveals that the genre of our film is a teen-comedy. However, there it is not completely obvious that it is a parody but this is helped through the use of our trailer.

We have challenged typical independent film promotion techniques by choosing to promote our film on the cover of a mainstream film magazine however this will help promote the film on a larger scale.

Poster• The singers included in the poster are used as an USP (unique

selling point).

• As well as using our trailer to offer a visual promotion of our film, we also decided to include a facebook and twitter fan page for our film to broaden the awareness of the film.
