PARTICULAR SOCIAL GROUPS

SOCIAL CLASS AND ETHNICITYMy magazine was not meant for any particular social class or ethnicity, however the price of the magazine (£2.50) may restrict the lower working class from consuming my magazine as they may not be able to justify the price.

The overall appearance of the magazine is quite sophisticated and therefore may attract more middle class audiences as the simple, sleek look of my magazine may appeal to them.

Coincidentally, only white models were used in my cover, contents and double page spread, making my magazine seem ethnically deprived. However, if making a real magazine, people

from all ethnic minorities would be used. It just happened that I was only able to use white models.

AGEThe target audience for my magazine was young adults aged 16-25.

This audience was addressed by using young models (Rose Daly,17 and Beth Bullard, 17) in my pictures. Models of the same/similar age to the target audience connect the two together as the artist will most likely be more relevant to the audience if they are of similar ages because they will have similar interests and opinions.

I made the contents of the magazine relevant for young adults – not too serious but not too immature. The article onmy double page spread is about Beth’s rise to fame and how strange the attention is. This would be relevant to the audience as they can relate to her as they are similar ages and would be able to understand how surreal it must be.

GENDERMy target audience was specific to no particular gender. I wanted my magazine to be read by all genders, unlike NME which is mainly read by men.

To attract both genders I used a gender neutral colour scheme (red). Instead of including a group like One Direction who mainly attract females I included artists that are appealing to both genders.

Ideally, I would have used both male and female models, however I could not find any males willing to model for me so I had to just use females, which may possibly make my magazine less apealing to boys. However if I were to make this into a real magazine, I would be sure to include both genders so the male readers had some articles they could relate to as well as the females.
