• Current Affairs Presentation – while creating awareness on issues in society, students learn about the outside world; the world beyond the classroom

• Spotlight Careers – share experiences/knowledge, notice board display, student presentation, invite those ‘living the dream’, bellwork

• Think Aloud – while teaching draw students attention to how this topic relates to a future education or career goal

• Design class activities around the work of those in the field – speech (Law), newspaper article (Journalism), collect/analyze data (Weather Officer, Historian), identify crop diseases (Agriculture Officer) etc

• Promote inter-disciplinary learning – it removes learning in isolation AND we often never get exactly what we want!!

• Be enthusiastic – it will help students believe in the relevance of your subject to their lives
