Through a coordinated strategy of masterplanning, design and construction, and educationand outreach, the Houston Zoo has strengthenedits sustainable infrastructure and operations byimplementing comprehensive plans for its physicalfacilities.

In May 2019, the Texas Wetlands exhibit openedfeaturing state-of-the-art water resourcesinfrastructure that allows the exhibit to function asstormwater detention while maintaining abiodiverse habitat for local flora and fauna.

Meanwhile, our new exhibits feature buildingautomation and energy efficient technology.

Employees and guests are encouraged toparticipate in Take Action initiatives that helpthem understand the importance of environmentalprotection and sustainability.
