    Introduction

University faculty and staffs play a special role in the life of the

University as teachers, mentors, scholars, and participants in acad

governance. They are the ones responsible in maintaining the

highest personal standards of character, conduct and most of all

    in learning.

The Polytechnic University of the Philippines, a state university run b

government, has been experiencing problems not only with the facili

student related concerns but also concern for its employees. Some o

faculties have to travel long distances in order to get to PUP but wer

enough salary for their expenses and bills. Due this, a provision for

development that will cater their needs for comfortable living adja

    working environment is a necessity.

    Contemporary Architecture

Clear lines and subtle structural components

that speaks more of its functionality rather than

aesthetics is an appropriate approach for such

residents that are on the go, multi-faceted yet

simple in terms of way of life.

Seismic design according to structural engineering books suggest flexible connection and

lightweight framing for they sway with the seismic direction rather than fighting it therefore

avoiding great loads and magnitudes caused by the movement.

    Flood Prevention

Adding elevation to the first floor via raised structural columns is the buildings method of

keeping the building flood-free against high flood elevation.

The general architectural character of the building which strives

of being simple yet functional and is provided in response to the

Filipinos trait, climate, merged into modern structural method

speaks of everything that is Filipino which have the characters of

being innovative, adaptive to any situations and are simple in their

own way of living yet strive to improve in life. Thatis the core design principle of the project, being our own

ModernPhil ippine Arc hitecturethat will last a lifetime because it

is speaks much about the Philippine as a whole.

    Economy Concept

Designing the development and the structures of the project in a clear vision of sustainable

friendly goal in the early conception makes the economic viability possible. This can be done Pr

cost-effective method which helps in the speed of construction due to direct installation and con

the conventional reinforced concrete method which takes a lot of time and therefore additional c

completion in general. Maximizing the land area by propo sing 12 floors apartmentsis one of

initially conceived in order to provide adequate housing units to PUP staff.
