BIN COLLECTION SERVICE

IMPORTANT INFORMATIONCONGRATULATIONS HOLDFAST BAY!

SINCE BEGINNING BIN INSPECTIONS AND DELIVERING KITCHEN ORGANIC BASKETS IN 2013, WE HAVE INCREASED OUR LANDFILL DIVERSION RATE BY 15%, THIS MAKING US ONE OF THE BEST PERFORMING COUNCIL’S IN TERMS SUSTAINABLE WASTE MANAGEMENT IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA!

We have processed an extra 4293 tonnes of organic waste, this equalling 204 million brussel sprouts or 572,400 watermelons!

One in two households are using our kitchen organic basket system and our recycling contamination rate (items that should not go in recycling bins) is at a record low of 10%, a fantastic result for our community and environment.

Don’t have a kitchen organics basket?Simply call customer service on 8229 9999 to have one delivered.

(GREEN WASTE AND FOOD SCRAPS)

Did you know?Whilst Holdfast Bay residents are one of the best recyclers, we are still sending 45% of all our household waste to landfill. A recent audit has found that out of the 375kg of waste the average household sends to landfill each year, only 108kg cannot be recycled or composted.

This means that the average truck going to landfill contains…

That’s a lot of wasted non-renewable resources!

What can we do about it?By recycling all recyclable items and placing all organic matter in the organics bin we can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, save space in landfill and non-renewable resources.

Diverting waste away from landfill is also more cost effective.
