Certificate of Competency (COC). It focuses on Process and Delivery and the four (4) core

competencies that a Grade 9 Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) student ought to

possess namely: (1) Clean living room, dining room, bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen (2)

I. INTRODUCTION

V. SUMMARY Floors are important aspect of house interiors as they are both functional and decorative. It comes in a wide variety of colors, shapes, sizes and styles which adds to its versatility. Choices of it depend upon one’s personality and budget allocations. Use of proper tools and materials is very important to perform our tasks effectively hence, daily care and maintenance of each tools and materials should not be ignored.

Furnitures and fixtures are important part of our home decoration. The used of it makes our home lively and appealing. The knowledge of care and maintenance of the furnishings will help dealing its value, form and texture. Linen is used to describe any woven or knitted bath, bed or kitchen textile such as sheets, towels and table clothes. It is a fabric that is made from flax fibers and not from cotton. Bed make up is the process of cleaning up and organizing one’s bed. Fitted and flat sheets, comforter, blanket, pillow, pillow case and slip are the supplies needed to make our beds presentable. Different parts of the house must be regularly clean and disinfect to avoid any kind of diseases. Cleaning and maintenance of it will be easier and more efficient if you follow step-by-step procedures. The idea is to know the cleaning care and maintenance of it. Then you can use effectively and safely longer and thereby save money. Bathroom supplies and paraphernalia are essential items we need in observing cleanliness. They can be classified as sanitizing, cleaning and for personal hygiene purposes. Maintenance of our clothes, linen and fabric inside the house is necessary because this is part of our daily routine; we always change our clothes when we got home and regular washing of linens in our home.

Clothing, linen, and other fabric inside the house should be cleaned, washed and ironed (daily or weekly) regularly to be more presentable, good looking and have a pleasant aura inside the house. Housekeeping is not just cleaning. It includes laundering of clothes, mending defects and damages and ironing. Learning proper care, mending, laundering and ironing will save our time, money and energy. A service plan in necessary this will give direction to the student for them to easily achieve their goal.

Comforter -a thick bed covering that is filled with soft light material.

Damp mopping -cleaning the floor with lightly wet mop. Denatured alcohol -is a cleaning aid removing ink stains from upholstery or clothes.

Extraction -extracting deeply embedded dirt and soil in carpets that cannot be removed by shampooing Fibers -is a thread or filament formed from a vegetable tissue, mineral substance or textile. Fabric is a cloth, typically produced by weaving or knitting textile fibers.

Floor polisher -equipment used in scrubbing, stripping, and polishing hard floor surfaces and also vinyl, wood parquet, etc. Floor scraper -used for scrapping hardened dirt

Furniture -large movable equipment such as tables and chairs

that makes home or offices suitable for living or

working.

Glycerine -has three hydroxyl groups that are responsible for the solubility in water and its hygroscopic nature.

Hand brush -used to remove embedded dirt on top of hard floor and stubborn dirt on top of the carpet.

Hard floor -durable, versatile and not easily pierced floor type that usually used in living and dining room. Lubricant -is a substance introduce to reduce friction between moving surfaces. It may also have the functions of transporting foreign particles.

Mattress -is a large pad that supports the body. It is consist of a

quilted of similarly fastened case, usually of heavy

cloth that contains hair, straw, cotton, foam and rubber.

Recycling -process of recovering and converting materials that

can be used as raw materials to produce another new
