General Clean Up
Scotland Island ResidentsCollections will ONLY BE FROM THE ROADSIDE.
Do not place materials at public wharves or private wharves/jetties/pontoons.
Mackeral Beach ResidentsPlace materials on the grassed area at the southern side of the public wharf. Prior to the collection, the waste contractor will install a temporary barrier so that metals can be placed separately from general clean up items.
Western Foreshores ResidentsPlace materials at the public wharves. Residents with a private wharf waste service can place their materials on their wharf/jetty/pontoon.
General clean up collection dates are shown on the waste calendars.
Waste calendars are displayed at public wharves or alternatively on Council’s website:

Household Chemical Collections
Household chemical collections are held annually at Mona Vale beach car park.
The following household chemicals can be disposed of on the day for free:
paint and paint-related products (thinners, strippers, varnishes etc.)
pesticides, herbicides and poisons (fungicides, baits/ poisons, wood preservatives)
solvents and household cleaners
motor oils, fuels and fluids
batteries, gas bottles, fire extinguishers
pool chemicals, acids and alkalis
hobby chemicals (photography chemicals etc.), fluorescent tubes.
Visit the Household Chemical Clean Out website: www.cleanout.com.au, or phone 131 555 for collection dates. Information pamphlets will be distributed with the rates notices and posters will be affixed to the public wharf notice boards.

How it works
Materials are to be put out on the weekend prior to the collection week. Materials put out later than the Monday of the week commencing the general clean up, will not be collected.
The total quantity per household is not to exceed 3 cubic metres (3m x 1m x 1m).
Unacceptable items
The unacceptable items listed in this brochure present occupational health & safety or environmental hazards at the disposal destination- Kimbriki Waste & Recycling Facility. Kimbriki is not licensed to accept hazardous waste.
If you wish to have unacceptable materials removed from any offshore areas you will need to contact a waste contractor listed in the yellow pages and pay for the removal and disposal costs.
General & Metal Clean Up Unacceptable Items
Unacceptable Items will not be collected
asbestos
batteries and household chemicals
building materials e.g. wall linings (gyprock etc.) / studs / timber beams / tiles / concrete
car, motor and boat parts / rubber from tyres (rims are acceptable)
food
gas bottles
glass including windows / panes / mirrors / panels / shower screens / picture frames.
liquid paints / oils / fuel
recyclable materials - paper/cardboard
soil / earth / fill / bricks
soiled wrappings
vegetation / plants.
Total quantity is not to exceed 3 cubic metres
Acceptable Items
appliances such as stoves and fridges (please remove doors);
frames with glass removed (break glass down, wrap in newspaper and put in garbage bin);
paint tins and fuel containers are accepted with the lid off and no liquid;
manageable quantities of: delivery pallets, wooden stairs, decking, gates, fencing, guttering, down piping, iron sheets and water tanks – must be cut down to 1.2 metre lengths and one person must be able to lift the item. Nails must not stick out, please hammer down;
hot water systems (empty).
Where possible metals will be kept separate and taken to Kimbriki Recycling & Waste Facility for re-processing and re-use.
