 A hospital seeking accreditation from an accrediting body is done on a voluntary basis.

The hospital has the freedom to choose the set of standards it wants to be assessed or evaluated on by an accrediting body.

It also has the liberty to choose the accrediting body to do the assessment or evaluation.
