HPCFM Mission

HPCFM has remained strong and committed to its mission: to advance and promote excellence in end-of-life care by advocating for members, patients, families and the end-of-life caregiving community; providing education; enhancing awareness; and fostering innovation in end-of-life services. In the most recent fiscal year, advocacy for hospice and palliative care, involvement

in legislative and regulatory matters, technical assistance and education have remained the focus for the HPCFM Board of Directors and staff.

• On the national level, in 2017 HPCFM and its staff, along with HPCFM provider members attended the Hospice Action Network Advocacy Intensive on Capitol Hill with the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization to advocate for care planning legislation in Washington, DC.• Locally, HPCFM and its staff participated in numerous task-forces, work groups and advisory councils poised to change health care in the Commonwealth. In 2017 various stakeholders and initiatives moved simultaneously, to create positive change for people with serious illness. In these forums, HPCFM remained the consistent expertise that represented the voice of hospice, palliative care and end-of-life in Massachusetts.

As we move through 2018 and beyond, there will undoubtedly be more challenges and changes facing hospice and palliative care providers. Combining the tireless efforts of the Board of Directors, the HPCFM staff, together with our members’ support, we will continue to transform and evolve our organization to successfully embrace those challenges as we strive to promote and advance excellence in end-of-life care. Sincerely, Deborah Dolaway
