PoC Objective

The primary objective for RCG’s PoC is to demonstrate the business value of Big Data analytics and business insights using your data in RCG’s Big Data Lab with Hortonworks Big Data technology. This requires no investment in hardware, software, or skills in your IT or business departments.

PoC Process

Identify a Business Problem Area

To gain a useful insight, the PoC requires focus on an area of interest, such as sales lift through better product recommendations or improving healthcare outcomes through personalized treatments. This provides scope for the PoC.

Collect Data Related to the Problem Area

Data related to the business problem is collected, such as customer data, customer purchase history, customer emails, demographics, product data, product sales history, and such. If required, sensitive data can be masked, simulated, or removed. RCG can help with this technical data preparation, if desired.

Load Data into RCG’s Big Data Lab

The collected data is loaded into RCG’s Big Data Lab to allow the PoC to use Hortonworks Big Data technology. More information on RCG’s Lab is provided below.

Apply Big Data Analytics

Big Data analytics are all about finding statistical insights between data elements. RCG uses ‘R’ (open source statistical software) and SAS to develop and refine statistical models and apply them to the client data provided.

Produce Results and Insights

The statistical models provide inferences that can be used by the business such as, sales lift from better product recommendations, improved ROI on capital investments, better patient outcomes, data-driven personalized offers, and more.

The concept behind using Big Data technologies is to provide real-time business analytics, flexibility, speed, and ease of implementation to all the data, not just transaction data, useful to the business.
