1.Caution: Whenfiringyourcrossbow,besuretokeepyourfingersandthumbbelowthetravelpathofthebowstringandcables.Failuretodosocouldresultinseriousinjury.
2.Alwaysremembertotreatyourcrossbowwiththesamerespectasanysportingarm.Yourcross-bowisaverypowerfulweaponandcanbedangerousanddeadlyifmishandled.
3.Alwayspointyourcrossbowinasafedirection.Never,underanycircumstances,pointyourcross-bowatanythingyoudonotintendtoshoot.
4.Alwayscheckyourcrossbowthoroughlyforworn,damaged,loose,ormissingpartspriortoshoot-ing.Thiswillhelpyouavoidmalfunctionsandpreventpossibleinjuries.

8.Nevercockorloadyourcrossbowuntilyouarereadytoshootandaresureofyourtarget.Whilehunting,keepinmindthatmanyhuntersdressincamouflageclothingandaredifficulttoidentify.
9. Neverreleasethesafetyuntilyouarereadytofire.Donotattempttodeleteoralterthesafetyortriggermechanisminanyway.Thiswillnotonlyvoidthewarrantybutcouldalsoresultinseverebodilyinjuryandpossibledeath.
10.Never,underanycircumstances,shootyourcrossbowwhilebehindordirectlyalongsideothers.Ifthecrossbowwastomalfunction,injuriesmayresulttothosewhoarestandingdirectlyalongsidethecrossbow.
11.DONOTwalkwithyourcrossbowcockedand/orloaded.
12. ONLYusearrowsrecommendedbyHortonforuseinyourparticularcrossbowmodel.Shootingarrowsofimproperlength,weight,materials,diameterordesignisadangerouspracticethatcoulddamageyourcrossboworcauseseriousinjury.AllarrowsusedinanyHortoncrossbowMUSTbe11/32” indiameter!Horton’s20” longand17.5”aluminumorcarbonarrowscanbeused in theFuryandHavocmodelbows.AllothermodelbowsmustuseHorton’s20”longaluminumorcarbonarrows
13. Crossbowhuntingisoftenconductedfromatreestand.Consultyourhuntersafetycoursemate-rialsforcompletetreestandsafetyinformation.Whenstalkingorstill-hunting,NEVERloadanarrowintothecrossbowuntilthegameisidentifiedandyouarereadytoshoot.
14. Eachyear,manyarcheryhunters injurethemselvesby improperhandlingoftheirrazorsharphuntingarrows.BECAREFUL.Alwaysuseaquiver,whichcompletelyshieldsthebroadheadswhenshootingortransportingthecrossbow.
15.Beforeshooting,besurethecrossbowlimbsareclearfromstrikinganyobstruction.Shouldthisoccur,accuracyofthearrowwillbegreatlyaffectedandcouldresultindamagetothecrossbowandorinjurytotheshooterandothers.

Anti-Dry Fire Mechanism
ThepurposeoftheADFdesignisto:
1.Tostopthepossibilityofanaccidentaldryfire.2.Preventaccidentalfiringofthebowwhenanarrowisnotcorrectlyseatedagainstthestring.
InHorton’sleveractionanti-dryfiredesign,onlyaproperlyloadedarrowonthebarrelrailandsettingagainstthestringwillallowthesafetytomovefromthe“Safe”tothe“Fire”position.Ifthesafetycannotbemovedtothe“Fire”position,thearrowisloadedincorrectly.
CAUTION–Theanti-dryfiredevicewillnotstopadryfireiftheuseroverridestheanti-dryfiredevice.IfADFwillnotdisengageuponarrowinsertion,checkthatarrowisfullyseatedpriortodisengagingandpullingthetrigger.Intheeventofadryfire,damagetothebowislikelytoresultaswellasbodilyharmtotheuserandoth-ersneartheshooter.Thisactionwillalsovoidthewarrantyofthebow.Itisrecom-mendedyoukeepthesafetyinthe“Safe”positionuntilyouarereadytoshootthebow.

Care and Maintenance
YourHortoncrossbowisaquality,precisionsportingweaponwhichrequiresoccasionalmaintenancetoensuretopperformance.Priortoeveryouting,itisrecommendedthatanover-allsafetycheckofcables,wheels,strings,arrowsandscrewsbeconducted.
1. Alwaysmaintainyourcrossbowstringandca-bles.Stringandcablechangesshouldbereplacedeachseasonormoreoftenifneeded.Hortoncrossbowstringwaxshouldbeusedevery10shotsonunservedstrandsofthebowstringtoprolongitslife.Seeimage1.Intheeventyourstringorcableshavefrayed,showssignsof
excessivewearorstrandsbroken,replacethemimmediately.InstallationofstringsandcablesMUSTbeperformedusingacrossbowbowpressorservicedbyalocaldealer.
NEVER USE STRING WAX ON THE CENTER SERVING.
2. Toreducefriction,increasearrowspeedandgreatlyincreasestringlife,applyaverylightcoatofRailLubricant™overtheentirelengthofthetopofthebarrelapproximatelyevery20shots.Seeimage2.

Loading, Shooting, and Unloading
Priortoeveryoutingorshootingsession,performanoverallsafetycheckonstring,cables,wheels,limbs,andfasteners.Toprolongtheirlifeandeffectiveness,stringsandcablesshouldbetreatedwithstringwaxfrequently.DONOTapplywaxtocenterservedportionofthebowstringasthismaycauseawaxbuild-upinthetriggermechanism.Thiscouldleadtoamalfunction,especiallyinverycoldconditions.Insteadofwax,applyHortonRailLubricant®every20shotstoreducefrictionbetweenthebarrelandstring.
Keepsteelcomponentslightlycoatedwithahighqualitygunoiltopreventrustandkeeptheexteriorcleananddry.Storeyourcrossbowsothatitisneverexposedtoextremetempera-tures.Thiscoulddamagethebowlimbs,cablesand/orstring.Donotstorethecrossbowinaclosedareasuchasacartrunkoranenclosedtruckcap.
Whenyourstringorcablesshowsignsofexces-sivewearordisplayabrokenstrand,replacethemimmediately.
LOADING AND SHOOTING1.Withyourcrossbowpointedsafelydownrange,placeaHortonrecommendedsizearrow,withoddcoloredfletchingdownintheflightgroove.Thiswillaligntheconcaveshapeofthemoonnockdriverwiththebowstring.Slidethearrowback-wardtowardthetriggerassembly,underthearrowretentionspringorballdetent,untilthearrowispressedfullyagainstthestring.
THE CROSSBOW IS NOW LOADED. HANDLE WITH EXTREME CAUTION.2. Whilestillpointedsafelydownrange,shoulderthecrossbow,placingyourfronthandcomfortablyontheforearmofthestockwithyourfingersandthumbposi-tionedbelowthetravelpathofcablesandstring.(Seeimage3)Keepyouraimingeyeatleast21/2”awayfromtherearpeeptoavoidscoperecoil.
3. Removetheambidexteroussafetybypushingthesafetyleverforwardtothe“Fire”position.Takecarefulaimandsqueezethetriggersmoothlytofire.
UNLOADINGHortonrecommendsthatthesafestwayforonepersontouncocktheircrossbowistoloadaHortonde-cockingarrowanddischargethearrowintotheground.Becarefulwhenfiringintothegroundthattheareaisfreefromrocksandotherdebristhatmaydamagethearroworcauseittoricochet.
REMEMBER: NEVERDRYFIREYOURCROSSBOW.SHOOTINGWITHOUTAHORTONDE-COCKINGARROWWILLDAMAGETHECROSSBOWANDMAYRESULTINBODILYINJURY.
SHOOTING TIPSWhenshooting,relaxandholdthecross-bowfirmlybutcomfortably.
Your“offhand”accuracywillbegreatlyenhancedifyouholdstillandkeepaim-inguntilthearrowreachesitsmark.Theshootermustnotmovethecrossbowtotrytoseethearrowwhileinflight.
Donottiltthecrossbow.Keepingthelimbsparalleltothehorizonwillsignifi-cantlyimproveyouraccuracy.

Cocking a Reverse Draw CrossbowDO NOTcockorloadRDTcrossbowsunlessyouareinasafeandspaciousrangeareaandinapositiontosafelyshoot.Alwaysidentifyyourtargetpriortoshooting.
Important:BecausetheRDTbowscreateanextremelyacuteangleofthebowstringtothebarrelwhencocked,itisessentialtoutilizethecockingstrapincludedwiththeRDTbow.CockingtheRDTbowinaconventionalmannerwillresultinseverepinchingofyourfingersagainstthecross-bowbarrel.
1.Beforecocking,placethetriggersafetyintothe“Fire”position.Thesafetywillautomaticallyengagewhencockingiscomplete.NOTE:Checkcockingsledfordamagebeforeusing.
2. Placethecenterofthecockingstrapintotherecessedgrooveprovidedintherearofthesightbridge.Seeimage1.
3. Withbothhands,carrythecockingsledoverthescopeandplaceitcenteredontheflightdeck,attachingthestringhooksofthesledtothebowstring.Seeimages2and3.
4.PlaceyourfootsecurelythroughthecockingstirrupoftheRDTbowandplacebothhandsfullythroughthewriststrapsofthecockingstrap.
5. Withthecockingsledpositionedflatonthebarrel’ssurface,pullbackevenlyandslowlywithbothhands(Seeimage4),paralleltobarrel,movingthebowstringandsledunderthearrowreten-tionspring.Seeimage5.
6. Whenfullydrawn,relaxyourpullslightlytoensurethatthetriggerlatchhascapturedthebow-string.Ifthestringisnotheldsecurely,letthestringdowngently.Repeatsteps1-5.Thestringisnowlatchedintothetriggerhousing.
Whenproperlycocked,thetriggersafetyautomaticallyengagesandthesafetyleverwillmovetothe“Safe”position.Aftercocking,visuallychecktoseeifthishasoccurred.Neverassumethesafetyison.
Sinceatriggermechanismandsafetyaremechanicaldevices,theycanbesubjecttofailure.Alwayskeepacockedandloadedcrossbowpointedinasafedirection.

Withthesafetyinthe“Fire”position,pullthestringbackunderthearrowretentionspring(seeimage4)towardtherearofthesightbridgeuntilthesafetybarmovesfromthe“Fire”positionintothe“Safe”position.Afterdrawing,relaxyourhandtensionslightlytoensurethatthestringhasbeencapturedbythetriggerlatch.DONOTletgoofthestringcompletely.Ifthestringisnotheldsecurely,letthestringdowngently.Repeatsteps1-3.Thestringisnowlatchedintothetriggerhousing.
4. Whenproperlycocked,thetriggersafetyautomaticallyengagesandthesafetylevermovestothe“Safe”position.However,aftercocking,checkthatthesafetyhasmovedcompletelytothesafepositionbypushingthesafetybartowardthe“Safe”position.NEVER ASSUME THE SAFETY IS ON.

Assembly Instructions
1.Applysmallamountofraillubeontheconcavesideofthepolymercablesaver.Thecablesavershouldalreadybepositionedinthecenterofthecrossbowcableswiththeconcavesideup.(SeeImage1).
Ifcablesaverhasfallenoffduringshipmentandyouareabletolocatewithinthebox,thenalignbottomofcablesaver(slottedside)withcenterareaofcablesandsnapintoplaceNOTE:Whenpositioningthecablesaver,thecablecrossingontopshouldrestinthedeepestofthetwoslots(A).Thecablecrossingunderneathshouldrestintheshallowslot(B).Seeimagebelow.
(Image2showsbottomsideofcablesaveroncables).ThecablesaverneedstobepositionedinthecenterwiththeconcavesideupasshowinImage1.Ifyouarenotabletolocatethecablesaverinthebox,stoptheassemblyprocessandcallcustomerserviceteamat800-551-7468.
2.Holdingthefrontendassemblyinonehandandstockintheother(Hint– may be easier to position the butt of the stock on the ground and secure the barrel between your knees when seated),positionthebowstringonthefrontandtopsideofbarrel.Caution – Do not run string or cables over end of the barrel area.Asmallamountofdownwardpressureonthecablesmaybeneededinordertoalignthecablesaverwiththefrontofthecablesaverslotinthebarrel.
3.Afterthecablesaverisinthecablesaverslotandthestringisrestingontopofthebarrel,slidethefrontendbackuntiltheriseralignsandfullyseatsontothebarrel.(Image3)
4.Positionthefootstirruponthefrontoftheriser,aligningtheholeinthestirrupwiththeholeintheriser.Placethefootstirrupwasherontothefootstirrup;againmakingsuretheholeinthewasheralignswiththeholeinthestirrup.Insertthe3/16-18x1¼”mountingboltthroughfootstirrupwasher,thefootstirrup,riserandthensecureintotheriserrod.Tightenusingtheprovided3/16”hexwrench.(Image4)
5.Nowthatthefrontendisassembledtothebarrel,refertotheindexforthefollowing:Mult-A-RangeScope,MountingQuiver,CockingCrossbow,Loading/Shooting/UnloadingandSafety/Maintenance.

TheforearmoftheTRTisdesignedtoallowyoutoadjustthelengthofreach.Thehandswellcanbeintheforwardposition(seeimage1)orcanbeturnedaroundsothehandswellisinthereverseposition.Theforearmissecuredtothebarrelwithone1”longandone11/4”longAllenheaded10-24machinebolts.Byremovingthesetwobolts,youmayadjustthepositionoftheforearmtoalocationthatgivesyouthemostcomfortableshootingposition.Seeimage2.Besurewhenyoureplacethetwo10-24boltsintothethreadedholeslocatedonthebottomofthebarrelthatyoudonotovertightenthebolts.Theforearmhasbeendesignedtobeverywideandtoextenddownfromthebarreltohelpinsureshootersfingersandthumbarebelowthetravelpathofthestring.
CAUTION: FAILURETOINSUREYOURFINGERSAREBELOWTHETRAVELPATHOFTHESTRINGWILLLIKELYRESULTININJURYTOTHESHOOTER.

TheDial-A-Rangeisaninternal,grosselevationadjustmentfeaturethatcontains10positiveclickreferencestopsthatwillcompensatefortrajectoryatvaryingyardages.
Theexclusiveambidextrousfeaturedeliversprecisionarrowplacementatrandomyard-agesandreducestheneedforsighthold-overandhold-underfoundtypicaltomostothercrossbowsightingsystems.TheDial-A-Rangeallowsforsimple,quick,andquietsightadjust-ment.SimplyturntheDial-A-Rangeknobtothepredeterminedsetting.Thebuilt-inpositioningsystemensuresaccuraterepeatabilityandwillnotmoveduringrecoil.
AlthoughtheDial-A-RangemaybeusedwiththestandardRearPeepandFrontPinsystem,itsfullpotentialisrealizedwhenusedinconjunc-tionwithareddotsight.
Proceedtothetargetrange.Forbestresults,utilizeabenchresttoeliminatemosthumanerrorwhenshooting.Besuretherestdoesnotinterferewiththelimbs,cables,orstringofthecrossbow.Besureyourrangeislocatedinasafeandspaciousareaandthatyouhaveasuitabletargetandbackdropdesignedforusewithacrossbow.
Withyourcrossbowsafelycocked,loadedandpointeddownrange,shootonearrowwiththeDial-A-Rangeinthe“0”setting,oneatthe“1”settingandoneatthe“2”settingatadistanceof10yards.Eacharrowwillimpactapproximately
4”-6”apartdependingonyourcrossbowmodel.UsingaDial-A-Rangesettingthatwasclosesttothebullseye,shootagroupofthreearrowsandadjusttheleftorrightwindagesettingaccord-inglyuntilthegroupofarrowsimpactdirectlyaboveorbelowthebullseye.Remember,10clicks=1/4”ofmovementat10yards.
Next,movetoadistanceof20yards.Shootan-otherthree-arrowgroup.Usetheinternalscopeelevationadjustmentstoraiseorlowerthegrouptodeadzero.(5clicks=1/4”ofmove-mentat20yards).Yoursighting-inprocedureisnowcomplete.Younowcanconfirmthedistancethateachsettingrepresents.RaisetheDial-A-Rangesettingonenumberandstepbackuntilyourimpactpointisontarget(approximately30yards).Repeatagain;advancethesettingbyonenumberatapproximately40yards.AlthoughyoucancontinuetoshootatlongerdistanceswithhigherDial-A-Rangesettings,thisisthelongestsettingnecessaryforahuntingsituation.HortondoesNOTrecommendattemptinganyshotatbiggameinexcessof40yards.
Remember,notwobowsarealike.Arrowweight,bowweight,pointweightandstyle,andtypeoffletchingallaffecttrajectory.Generally,onenumberupordownontheDial-A-Rangewillequal8-10yardsoftrajectory.
Peep and Pin Assembly and Instructions

MOUNTING
1. Placethefrontsightbladeonthefrontleftendofthebarrel.Alignthetwoholesinthesightbladewiththetwoholesontheleftsideofthebarrel.Seeimage1.2.Insertthetwo1”long#10panheadwoodscrews(A-2)throughtheholesinthesightbladeandtightenfirmlyusingaPhillipsscrew-driver.Seeimage2.3.PositiontheFrontSightPin5/8”(A-1)downfromthetopofthesightbladeverticallyandsettheballtipofthepinoverthecenterofthebarrelhorizontally.Seeimage2.
SIGHTING IN
Beforeyoubegin,placetheDial-A-Rangeinthe“0”position.AlladjustmentswillbemadetotheFrontSightPinonly.
MOVING THE SIGHT PINUPwillcausethearrowtoimpactlower.DOWNwillcausethearrowtoimpacthigher.LEFTwillcausethearrowtoimpactright.RIGHTwillcausethearrowtoimpactleft.
Movingthepin1/4”willchangethepointofim-pactapproximately9”atadistanceof20yards.Additionalsightpinsmaybeaddedforlongerranges,typically30and40yards.
Shootseveralarrowstodeterminea“group”andmakeanysmallchangesnecessarytozeroinagivendistance.

Mult-A-Range Instructions
MOUNTING
1. Attachthescoperingstothesightbridgescopemountandsecurelyfasten.DONOTovertighten.
2.Removethetophalfofbothringsandposi-tionthescopeinthelowerportionoftherings.Fastenthetophalfoftheringsbackontothelowerhalfofthering,overthescopetube.Donotcompletelytightentheringsatthistime.
3.Beforetighteningthescoperings,slidethescopeforwardasfarastheringswillallowandsightthroughthescopewiththecrossbowshouldered.Lookingthroughthescope,slowlyslidethescopebackwardjustuntilyoucanseethefullfieldofview.Thisisthebestpositiontoassuremaximumeyerelief.
4. Beingcarefulnottochangetheeyereliefposition,rotatethescopeuntiltheelevationadjustmentknobispositionedattop-center,andthewindageadjustmentknobontheright.Checkthatthehorizontalcrosshairisparallelwiththecrossbowstringwhiletheverticalcrosshairisalignedwiththeverticalaxisofthecross-bow.Whenyouaresatisfiedthateverythingissquaredup,tightenthescoperingscrewsevenlyandfirmly.DONOTovertighten.
FOCUSING
Whenlookingthroughthescope,thereticleshouldappearverysharpandsolidblack.Ifitdoesnot,yourscopeneedstobefocusedforyoureyes.
1.Tochangethefocus,itwillbenecessarytoadjusttheeyepiecelensassembly.Thebestwaytoaccomplishthisistograsptheeyepiecewithyourhandandbackitawayfromtheeyepiece-lockingringbeforelooseningtheeyepiece-lockingring.
2.Turntheeyepieceout,counterclockwise.Severalturnswillbeneededtoachieveanymea-surableeffectonthefocusbecausetheeyepiecethreadsareveryfine.
CAUTION:Donotremoveorunscrewtheeyepiecefromthescopetube.Iftheeyepieceistotallyremoved,youwilldestroythefog-proofseal.
3.Lookthroughthescopeatabrightback-groundsuchastheskyorawell-lightedwall.Turntheeyepiececlockwiseuntilthereticlecomesintofocus.Whensatisfiedwithyourfocusadjustment,locktheeyepieceinplacebyturningthelockingringuptightagainsttheeyepiece.
SIGHTING IN
Tosightinthescope(1)removetheelevationandwindagecapsfromtheoptics.Pre-setwind-ageandelevationadjustmentstotheircenterrangeofmovement.Atadistanceof10yards,utilizingthetopscopecrosshair,shootonearrowatthetargetcenter.Donotshootagainuntiladjustmentismade.(2)Adjustthepointofimpact(POI)accordinglyusingtheinternalwindageandelevationadjustmentsofthescope(at10yards10clicks=1/2”ofmovement).RepeatuntilthePOIisapproximately1”highandperfectlycentered.(3)Movetoadistanceof20yardsandrepeat,continuingtoaimwiththetopcrosshairinthescope.MakeneededfinaladjustmentstobringthePOI“deadcenter”ofthetarget(at20yards,5clicks=1/2”ofmove-ment).(4)Confirmthedistancethatthelowercrosshairswillrepresent.Replacethewindage,andelevationcaps.Generallyeachcrosshairwillprovide8to10yardsoftrajectoryandwindagemarkssetfor10mphcrosswindsdependingonthemodelofcrossbowbeingused.Rememberarrowselection,arrowweight,pointweightandstyle,fletchinglengthandstylesareallfactorsthatwillinfluencetrajectory.Asapointofrefer-ence,theMult-A-Rangereticleforarrowdropcompensationhasbeensetatequal10yardincrementsbasedoncalibrationsofa425totalgrainweightarrowat325fps.

Activatetheilluminateddots(dot)byturningtheilluminationknob(batterycompartment)clockwise.Thelowestnumbersontheknobrepresentthedimmestsettings.Highernumbersincreasebright-ness.“0”positionis“OFF”.
HINT: Whilehunting,usethelowestilluminationsettingpossiblethatproducescleardotvisibility.Toohighofasettingwillcausethedotstoblur.

Mounting a Quiver
1.Installthequivermountingplate(A)tothebottomoftheriserusingtwoofthefourprovidedma-chinedscrews,usinga1/8”Allenheadhexkey.
2.Attachthequiverblock(B)tothemountingbracket(A)asshown,usingthetworemainingmachinedscrews.Theopeninginthequiverblockmaybeplacedwiththeopeningtoeithertherightorleftsideofthecrossbow.Thedirectionthequiverblockisplacedwilldetermineifthequiverisplacedinalefthandedorrighthandeddirection.Thequiverblockshouldbeinstalledsotheovalendofthetopandbottomarrowspreaders(theendswithnoarrowslot)arefacingthecockingstirrup.Placingthequiverinthispositionwillgivetheneededclearancesotheuser’sfootdoesnothitanarrowinthequiver.BydesignthequiverhooddoesNOTcontainfoamthatwoulddullthecuttingbladesofthebroadheads.
3.Attachyourquivertothequiverbase(B)bymovinglockinglever(C)toopenintothe“Release”posi-tion.Insertthequiverdovetail(D)fullyintotheslotofthequiverbase.Pivotthelockinglever(C)tolockthequivertothequiverbase.
4.Thetopandbottomarrowspreaderseachhavethreeovalarrowholdingslots.Anarrowisheldinthequiverbyfirstplacingthepointofthearrowinsidethequiverhoodandthenpressingthearrowintoaslotofthetoparrowspreaderandthenpressingthebottomofthearrowinthematchingslotofthebottomarrowspreader.
