GARDENING

• GARDENING IS THE PRACTICE OF GROWING PLANTS.

• ORNAMENTAL PLANTS ARE NORMALLY GROWN FOR THEIR FLOWERS, FOLIAGE, OVER ALL APPEARANCE, OR FOR THEIR DYES. SUEFUL PLANTS ARE GROWN FOR CONSUMPTION OR FOR MEDICINAL PURPOSE.

It means a wall or permeable screen set up to any height to prevent intruders from stepping in to the garden

GARDEN WALL

FENCING

It is to provide a safe haven for the budding flowers and plants in the garden, from 'invaders' (typically, animals and birds). 

PATH AND DRIVES

They are the path ways made between the flower garden to walk and enjoy the serene beauty of nature.

HEDGES

A hedge or hedgerow is a line of closely spaced shrubs and tree species, planted and trained in such a way as to form a barrier or to mark the boundary of an area.

EDGING

A border consisting of bricks or shrubs placed on the edge of any type of plants to make it look more beautiful.

ARCHES

Arches are walked through from the drive way. These are covered with creepers or other ornamental plants to make it look more serene.

PERGOLAS

A pergola is a garden feature forming a shaded walk or passageway of pillars that support cross-beams and a sturdy open lattice, upon which woody vines are trained.

TERRACE GARDENING

A place where gardening is done in an elevated portion of house or any other place specially made for this.

LAWN

Lawns are integral part of one's garden. They are basically an area of land planted between gardens covered with grass, and other low lying plants like clover plants, which generally do not require very special care.

CARPET BEDDING

Carpet bedding has a great attraction for those who admire masses of harmonious and contrasting colors more than the individual beauty of a flower.

FLOWER BEDDING

A flowerbed is a garden area especially prepared for growing flowers. The area is typically marked off, often by low-lying structures of brick or similar materials, designed to highlight the flowers and reduce the spread of weeds.

ROCKERY

A garden constructed with rocks, esp. one where alpine plants are grown Also called rock garden.

WATER GARDEN

A garden area that includes a pond in which water plants are grown.

MARSH GARDEN

The garden in which Plants are grown in more acidic conditions.

SUNKEN GARDEN

A garden set below the level of the ground surrounding it.

ROOF GARDEN

Gardening which is done on the roof of a house or any artificial medium of raised portion.

GREEN HOUSE

The green house is a building with glass walls and roof; for the cultivation and exhibition of plants under controlled conditions.

GARDEN ADORNMENTS

GARDEN SEAT

Garden seats are needed for every garden. It is made of wood or brick or built with iron or stone.

ORNAMENTAL TUBS AND VASES

It is kept in suitable places to add beauty. It is made up of timber, brick, and concrete or carved from stone.

SUN DIALS

These are designed to be set with the dial oriented horizontally, yet still keep fairly accurate solar time throughout the seasons. Today, garden sundials are used primarily as ornamental pieces and are not considered accurate time-keeping devices.

FLORAL clocks

It is a huge clock operated by electricity. The machinery is concealed underground and only the hands are visible. The structure is then covered with flower bedding or with carpet bedding.

BIRD BATHS

A large bowl usually made of concrete, fixed over a pillar. Water is stored in it and birds come to drink or bath in it. It is a good feature in the sunken garden and is placed in the centre of the path.

JAPANESE LANTERNS

It is usually made with white stone or marble but now with metal also. The Japanese fire box’ inside is ornamentally carved. It adds charming effect to the landscape.

ORNAMENTAL STONES

The stones are abstract but properly placed near lilly-pools, streams and water falls. This type of adornments were started by Japanese in their botanical garden.

FOUNTAINS

It is made to work by circulating some water in a pool. The jets are designed to be appealing and pipes are of anti corrosive material. Colored lights are added below for more beauty.

STATUES

Statues are carved out of stone or bronze. They should be good looking. It is placed at the junctions.

PLANT STANDS

Plant stands are usually made of mild steel, it has rings of different size to hold the pots which contain the plant. It adds beauty to the garden.
