Get

way

GETWAYFreeze dried colostrum substitute for horses

Getway improves the filly’s reaction to the environment, by favoring a high efficiency in its immunization defense, allowing significant reduction of postpartum pathologies. Getway represents a natural alternative for horse colostrums. It was specifically formulated for passive immunity in all circumstances in cases where the maternal colostrum wasn’t adequate; mares that were debilitated or that have mastitis, primipara that have colostrum deficiencies. Suggested for foals with post natal respiratory acidosis (a metabolic disorder that reduces immunoglobulin absorption) or that are constitutionally weakened.

INDICATIONS

Natural alternative for horse colostrum:

• Contains a wide spectrum of important immunoglobulins

• Its has a wide protective range

• Insures constant distribution of passive immunity.

USE AND DOSAGE

Reconstitute the product by pouring 500 ml of 40° cle-an water into a container. Gradually add powder mixing thoroughly. When there is a homogenous suspension, add another 500 ml of hot water and keep mixing until there is a homogenous suspension that will be ready for administration.Administer immediately at a 38/40° C in the first se-conds of the filly’s life since the maximum absorption of antibodies is within the first two hours and it gradually decreases until it stops after 24/36 hours.

For energetic newborns administer with a feeding bott-le; with lethargic newborns that are incapable of swal-

lowing administer with a rhino-esophageal probe.Orphaned foals or those whose maternal colostrum was insufficient: A 450 g. packet of Getway within the firs 24-36 hours of the filly’s life. Start administering as soon as possible, dividing it up into many doses until they take in the entire dosage

WARNINGS

Don’t administer reconstituted milk before the foal has

taken the suggested dose of the colostrum. Store in a

cool dry place.

PRIMOLATTEPrecooked dietetic food for weaning nursing foals

PRIMOLATTE stands out for its extremely high biological value (L-lysine: 1.75%) and its complete digestibility by nursing foals. With these properties, it is the ideal food for nourishing foals starting at one month of age. Animals fed with PRIMOLATTE are protected from the vitamin and mineral deficiencies that cause major developmental orthopaedic diseases (DODs). The animals continue to develop regularly during and after weaning, since they are not subjected to stressful dietary changes or nutritional deficiencies. Their regular development prevents the compensating growth that is responsible for DODs. Sturdy, well-shaped animals with unimpaired limbs are the result.

NB: Primolatte is also indicated for restoring proper nutrition in adult horses, especially if they have been weakened by diseases of the digestive system and by conditions involving poor absorption of nutrients (difficulty in chewing, advanced age, etc.)

INDICATIONSThe nutrition of foals during weaning; the nutrition of orphans or the offspring of mares with poor milk production; the pre-vention of deficiencies and dietary imbalances that cause DODs.

MANAGING THE ORPHAN FOALDuring the first three weeks of life, feed only NANUT FOAL reconstituted liquid milk. Beginning with the fourth week, dissolve 50 g of PRIMOLATTE pellets into each litre of the reconstituted milk. From the fifth week, continue liquid fe-eding but leave PRIMOLATTE pellets available for the foal to eat in the quantities shown on the table below. Adding 10% NANUT FOAL powder to the PRIMOLATTE pellets helps tran-sition of the foal to solid food.

WARNINGFEED IN SPECIAL TROUGHS RESERVED FOR FOALS OR IN AREAS THAT ARE INACCESSIBLE TO BREEDING MARES. Primolatte can be given until the foal is one year old or until 3 months after weaning, when the animal can be transitioned to a diet consi-sting of hay, grains and AMINOFEED, or of hay and FOAL.

I-G

o

I-GOHigh-calorie feed with low starch content

Miopathies due to exertion are often caused by a poor supply of oxygen to skeletal muscle, a condition that can be attributed to inadequate haematic perfusion. When no oxygen is present, starches are broken down by muscular activity into lactic acid, which damages the muscle. The amino acids added to I-GO are essential and bio-available. When they are present, even the protein in foods can be better utilized, and the muscles are strengthened. The development of blood vessels - the highways oxygen travels over to reach muscle fibres - is promoted. More vessels are formed, and the number of red blood cells, which are the vehicles used for carrying oxygen, can increase significantly. The aerobic metabolism of skeletal muscle is benefited greatly. Free essential amino acids can either perform their tissue-building function or be used to provide energy, depending on the intensity and duration of physical exertion. With I-GO, the creatine kinase level is lower than that found in a horse fed with a diet rich in starches. I-GO offers benefits not only to horses with muscular problems, but also to sporting horses with gastric problems that ultimately lead to poor protein absorption. Saccharomyces Cerevisiae improves long fibre digestion. The pharmaceutical-grade trace elements and vitamins in I-GO are easily absorbed and prevent dehydration. I-GO reduces recuperation

30

time and the incidence of muscle pathologies. It also increases the horse’s athletic performance. And, I-GO helps keep the horse in good physical condition. Thanks to its moderate caloric content (less than 10% starch) and enhanced bulk, I-GO promotes a feeling of fullness, which limits calorie consumption and prevents excessive glycogen build-up in the muscles.

FUTURITY SONGA complete dietetic feed for horses used in western riding.

Futurity Song is a complete functional feed for special nutritional purposes. When digestion and absorption processes are temporarily or irreversibly altered, they can benefit from foods that are suited to their specific requirements. Futurity Song is prepared with ingredients that require no effort to digest, such as branched L-amino acids and other essential amino acids. The free amino acids are administered in a form that is absorbed in the first section of the digestive tract, even when digestion is altered or even nonexistent. Futurity Song contains maltodextrin, carbohydrates and fats that are highly digestible. The added fats are of the short-chain type, so they are easy to absorb. The enhanced digestibility and absorbability of Futurity Song compensates for the negative changes caused by reactions due to stress, with resulting gastric hypochilia. Futurity Song is particularly useful for feeding foals and horses used in western riding, which undergo periods of intense training. It is also valuable in all situations in which horses are exposed to stressful and physically demanding activities. Futurity Song is particularly useful to horses that must tackle such situations when their bodies have not yet completely developed. Taming, intense training, transport and competition are examples of situations that cause discomfort and stress. It is good practice to divide the daily ration of Futurity Song into a number of meals.

Highly digestible feed, able to restore a balanced enteric flora also rehabilitating the

intestine’scontractile aptitude after prolonged antibiotic therapy or after surgery.

39

RECOVERYDietetic food for convalescent horses and foals.

Highly digestible, very tasty, spontaneously eaten even by animals who are suffering or have poor appetite. Natural prebiotics (highly digestible fibre, fructoligoosaccharides, inulin), probiotics (live yeasts, saccharomyces cerevisiae) and electrolytes restore gastrointestinal functions. The enterophilus bacteria in Recovery occupy the colon and compete with pathogenic bacteria (clostridia, salmonella, colibacillus), which renders the pathogens less dangerous. Recovery prevents major pathologies that cause depletion of intestinal flora. Promotes the resumption of nutrition after surgery, intestinal diseases and antibiotic treatments. Restarts peristalsis and normalises gastroenteric passage after intestinal hypotonia or enteritis. Restores reserves of macro- and microminerals, electrolytes and vitamins. Recovery’s high fibre content and excellent digestibility reduce the risk of laminitis caused by excessive caloric intake or incomplete digestion of grains. Absorbability, biological value and high nutritional supplementation with limited bulk make Recovery a safe, effective, easy-to-handle dietetic food.

AC-DDigestion and absorption

ACD is a supplementary feed with acid pH whi-ch combats diarrhea and disturbances of gastric secretion, such as achylia. Both acute and chronic gastritis are the cause of reduced secretion by the glandular mucosa of the stomach. These inflam-mations of the mucosa are common in horses and are an underlying cause of pernicious anaemia. The factors that predispose animals to gastritis mainly include stress, other concomitant pathologies, and

AC

the administration of medications such as NSAIDS and anti-inflammatory steroids. By buffering gastric pH, ACD promotes improved digestion of proteins and reduces the incidence of putrefaction in the large intestine. This product should be used to-gether with Primolatte, a precooked dietetic food, or concentrates such as Aminofeed and Aminosport that are rich in or enriched with essential amino acids, electrolytes and probiotics.

the metabolism of sugars. Taurine helps the hormonal activity of insulin. Like powerful biological solubilizers, it eases renal elimination of various toxic substances, carrying out a concrete nonspecific detoxifying action. It sees its amino group to react directly with the carboxylic acids of toxins in order to neutralize them. Similar to the neurotransmitter GABA, Taurine regulates the intra and extra cellular transport of the Ions and stabilizes the cellular membrane.

BULL POWERThe strength

Taurine plays an important role both in cerebral functions and in the cardiovascular system. It increases contraction force and cardiac range. It has good anti-oxidant activity and stimulates the immune system. Taurine is a major constituent of biliary acids and is essential for the use of lipids. Diet integration with Taurine increases the secretion of taurocholate that in turn increases the cholesterol secretion in bile improving the lipids metabolism to the hepatic level and

50

promotes the synthesis of haemoglobin and performs a remarkable anti-anemic activity. It stimulates the reproductive processes, the (muscular) tonus, the appetite and the growth of foals.

L-LYSINE: it is an essential amino acid that cannot be synthesized by the organism and so it is vital its supply through the diet. It is required in high doses in all cases of serious proteinic anabolism: horses and foals that are subjected to very heavy muscular work-out or in phase of growth.

CARNITON B12The name of high performances

L-CARNITINE: it transports long-chain fatty acids inside the mitochondria where they are oxidized in order to produce large quantities of energy (ß oxidation). The liberated energy, stored in the form of ATP, is available for the contraction of both the skeletal and the cardiac muscle. It improves the burning of fats thus hindering the production of lactic acid and the onset of the myoglobinuria.

VITAMIN B12: it is essential for synthesis of nucleic acid, purine, choline, lipids and glucides. It performs a lipotropic action in the liver. It

KERASKIN Biotin for hooves

KERASKIN® stimulates rapid and abundant hoof growth by producing a corneous tissue with esteemed mechanical qualities. BIOTIN promotes Keratin process development and determines rapid and abundant corneous tissue production. It helps to heal lesions on the skin. The contribution of zinc helps to keep the hooves robust and mechanically resistant, on the

other hand the zinc deficiency makes corneous tissue fragile. METHIONINE is a sulphuretted amino acid which is a precursor to keratin, that aids in the process of forming skin and cutaneous adnexa (hooves).

KILOTONEClean energy

It supplies concentrated energy (9000 Kcal/Kg) by means of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids. Their oxidative breakdown, in the muscles, liberates large amounts of energy without production of lactic acid. It is ideal for horses that are involved in cross-country sports (endurance, all-round etc.) and for which it is desirable to prevent an excessive production of lactic acid in the muscles. VITAMIN E provides an antioxidant and protective

action in the muscles. The VITAMIN B GROUP fosters the lipometabolism and the oxidative breakdown of fatty acids.CHOLINE as lipotropic factor is essential for the synthesis of lecithin in the liver. Its deficiency provokes problems with lipometabolism.SOY LECITHIN emulsifies the fatty acids in the intestine and promotes their digestion and absorption.

LACTABOLASEAntacid - Detoxifying agent - Energizing agent

Lactabolase promotes the metabolizing of lactic acid and the elimination of toxins from the body. It corrects metabolic acidosis caused by intense physical activity under conditions of insufficient oxygenation of muscle tissue. Regular administration of Lactabolase protects the muscles and the gastrointestinal tract from damage caused by work and stress. Lactabolase stabilizes the horse’s athletic condition during highly intense, prolonged activity programs.Lactabolase acts on the muscles and the liver to restore intracellular reserves of potassium and substances with enzymatic and co-enzymatic action. These reserves are necessary for proper execution of the extreme metabolic processes that occur in race horses.

PUSH UP Energy supplement with creatine, branched chain amino acids (bcaa) and taurine for enhancing athletic strength and promoting physical recovery

CREATINE is an intermediate compound in energy meta-bolism that is produced by the liver. It is the only high-e-nergy compound that can increase the concentration of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) in muscle. All tissues use ATP as an energy source for basic metabolism (respiration, blo-od circulation, digestion, etc.). What distinguishes skeletal muscle from other tissues is the fact that its ATP consump-tion can increase by 200 times during contraction, even though the quantity of ATP it contains it is only enough for supporting less than a second of intense effort. The mechanism used to produce the ATP which is then requi-red during the first seconds of exertion involves the use of creatine (as phosphocreatine), whose energy content is

5-10 times greater than that of ATP. Creatine use involves the conversion of ADP into ATP through the transfer of the phosphate group in phosphocreatine to ADP, as follows: phosphocreatine + ADP à ATP + creatine. Creatine and phosphocreatine react to form creatinine, a substance that can rarely be converted back into creatine. Tissues requi-ring greater quantities of creatine to produce energy must extract creatine from the plasma, where it is found in a lower concentration than in muscle. Food supplementa-tion with creatine increases its hematic concentration and provides the metabolism with a new, ready-to-use energy reserve.

TAURINE (BULL-POWER): An amino acid found in nature that is produced in the liver and is very concentrated in mu-scle. In sports medicine, the loss of taurine during exertion is associated with a drop in athletic performance. Scienti-fic literature discusses at length its role as an antioxidant,

84

since it can reduce damage caused by oxidation during in-tense physical effort. Specifically, taurine protects muscle fibers by preventing the occurrence of micro-lesions, thus accelerating recovery. Some studies have pointed out how taurine can enhance the body’s metabolic capacity by si-gnificantly increasing the oxidation of fats during exertion below the maximum level. Taurine also regulates the AMP cycle, which has a direct influence on muscle contraction.

BRANCHED CHAIN AMINO ACIDS: BCAA (ISOLEUCI-NE, LEUCINE, VALINE)The branched chain amino acids must be ingested in the diet, since the body is unable to produce them indepen-dently. Besides their well-known rebuilding and repairing function, they can be used to produce energy through gluconeogenesis. Despite what is traditionally believed, amino acids can be used as energy sources during the initial phases of exertion, with their use intensifying at later stages. Supplementation with amino acids is thus recommended for the sporting horse that is subject to prolonged physical activity such as endurance trials, since it is just this type of exertion that produces a deficien-cy. Supplementation with amino acids is essential during periods of activity, when these substances provide ener-gy. However, it is also important when damaged muscle fibers are repaired (anti catabolic function) during reco-very, since amino acids promote the growth of these fi-bers (anabolic phase). Branched chain amino acids play a vital role in protein synthesis. A deficiency causes imper-fect use of dietary proteins for rebuilding and repairing, since the amino acid sequence that comprises muscle proteins cannot be completed without branched chain amino acids. Supplementation with branched chain ami-no acids is therefore fundamental in the sporting horse that requires large muscle masses for powerful exertion over a short time span.

ARTOXINEDraining and decongestive paste that can be applied to wounds

OSMOTIC FUNCTIONS*

Allows ARTOXINE to absorb large quantities of exudates. When placing two solutions with different salt concen-trations at the side of a semi-permeable membrane, the water passes from the less concentrated solution to the more concentrated one. ARTOXINE® when it is applied to limbs after

working, removes liquids that have accumulated as well as inflammatory endotoxins. It restores lymphatic drainage and reduces edema. ARTOXINE® not only has osmotic functions* but also adsorbent functions**.

104

ADSORBENT ACTIONS**

A natural colloidal phenomenon that allows ARTOXINE to take away endotoxins from the fatigued inflamma-tory tissues. The colloidal micelles on their surface bring a large quantity of stable electrical charges (positive and negative) that are independent each other. These can connect and neutralize inflammatory molecules.

USE AND DOSAGE

Apply to the limbs after working. Dampen the area and spread the paste in at least a 1 cm strip. Reapply the ointment after 1 or 2 days. The paste can be removed by simply rinsing it off with water. The product can be

applied even when there are skin or hoof lesions.
