The NICP Network
Main goal of the Horizon 2020
Energy NICP is to strengthen
the participation of industries,
research centres, universities
and SMEs in energy oriented
Research Development and
Innovation Horizon 2020
Programmes and enhance the
collaborations between different
stakeholders.
What can Horizon NICP
Energy do for you?
• Improve your knowledge on
funding opportunities for
research development and
innovation
• Inform about energy calls for
proposals and topics
• Support during proposal
development
• Connect you to potential
partners
• Advise on how to promote your
research/technological profile
H2020 Application and
Engagement process
Horizon 2020 – Setting the Energy Context
Competitive Low Carbon Energy - LCE
Smart Grid – Renewable Electricity
(Wind, Ocean, PV, CSP, RHC, Hydro,
GE) – Storage – BioFuels – CCS –
Fossil Fuels
Energy Efficiency - EE
Buildings and Consumers (Renovation,
Demand Response, ICT) - District
Heating & Cooling - Industry and
Products - Finance
Smart Cities and Communities -SCC
SME Instrument – Stimulating
innovation potential for a low carbon
energy efficient system
Energy Efficient Buildings - EeB
Marie Cure Actions - MSCA
5 Key Questions
1. What problem are you trying to solve? (Why bother?)
2. Is it a European priority? (Could it be solved at national level?)
3. Is the solution already available? (Product, service, technology
transfer)
4. Why now? (What would happen if this research was not
completed now?) (Killer Question!)
5. Why you? (Do you have the best consortium to do this work?)

McL&H partner in Minesto Deep Green project
Funded in part under H2020 KIC InnoEnergy. Building upon the successful quarterscale Minesto power plant deployment that was carried out in Strangford Lough inNorthern Ireland in 2013, McLaughlin & Harvey has proven their capability as apartner through successfully delivering projects in challenging environments to helpsupport the commercialisation of tidal and wave energy devices. This proactiveapproach to novel practical solutions has convinced Minesto to utilise the experienceMcLaughlin & Harvey Ltd have.
