July Financial Report
For anyone who is interested, you can pick up a congregational financial
report through the month of July on the half wall by the mailbox room.
Thrivent Grants & T-Shirts So far this year, members of Hope have applied for over $4,000 in grants
from Thrivent. These funds have supported: Hope's Easter Egg Hunt
Local Food Pantries (The Peace Pantry & Feed My People) Hope's Baby Bottle Campaign
Summer Sunday School ECC Religious Resources (including the Story Bibles from
8:00am service today!) Purchasing the EveryOne His Witness Evangelism course
And Much More! We will continue to reach out to Thrivent members to help support the
ministries of Hope and in service to the community.
As part of these grants, we have received Thrivent t-shirts to share. Please take some from the Friendship Room for yourself
and to share! We have more than 130 shirts in various sizes.
Busy Bags!---- Parents Don't Forget! We know it's often tough for our littlest members to sit through an entire
church service! But we also know that the best thing to help with that is practice! We encourage you to bring your little ones to worship every
Sunday and pick up one of our busy bags from the back wall as you enter! Busy bags are available for ages Toddler through 1st grade. The bags include coloring, stickers, Bible-themed & hands-on activities, snack, and
more. Plus, through generous congregation donations, new items will slowly be added over the next month! We look forward to seeing our
young families in church! Please see Julie Wagner with any questions, concerns or comments!
Men’s Bible Study for Thursday,
September 5th is cancelled. Pastor
will be out for training.
Please take some time to review the Bible readings below,
they will be the subject of next week’s sermon.

Deuteronomy 30:15–20 Philemon 1–21 Luke 14:25–35
A disciple of Jesus Christ will “bear his own cross” (Luke 14:27) and follow the Lord through death into life. Discipleship is costly because it crucifies the old man with “all that he has” (Luke 14:33), in order to raise up the new man in Christ. The disciple disavows “his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life” (Luke 14:26), in deference to Christ. That way of the cross is impossible, except that Christ Jesus has already paid the cost. His cross is set before you as “life and good, death and evil” (Deut. 30:15). Taking up His cross is to “choose life, that you and your offspring may live, loving the Lord your God, obeying his voice and holding fast to him” (Deut. 30:19–20). To live that life in Christ is also to bear His cross in love, “that your goodness might not be by compulsion but of your own accord” (Philemon 14).

Life Thought in the Church Year
Supporters of abortion suggest babies with disabilities are better off not being born. Advocates of assisted suicide also presume certain injuries and illnesses
make life too burdensome. But Jesus calls us all fallen and helpless—and then rewrites His commandments to
save us as sons and daughters (Luke 14:2-5). He receives “the poor, the crippled, the lame, the
blind” (Luke 14:13) as honored guests, and invites us also to celebrate the blessing of each one.
To the Glory of God and in loving Memory of
Gil & Naomi Tritch a gift has been given by
Anheuser Busch Credit Union and Sue Boswell.

Dear Friends and Family Members of Hope Lutheran Church,
My family and I want to thank all of you for your prayers, cards
and gifts of love for the loss of my youngest child, Glen.
God took him at a young age of 56 - just had a birthday on July
7th. But God needed him now and relieved him of all his aches
and pains as I had prayed for Him to do. And Glen actually had a
small smile on his face when God called him. And we had some
very loving and caring people from Kindred to help us through
this period who were a wonderful group funded by Medicare for
people such as Glen and would be very glad to help others in
need no matter who or how ill they are.
We could not have had better care or loving thoughts and
prayers without all of you who have held us in your hearts and
prayers.
God Bless All and Thank you - Donna Schilling and Family
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to our Christian family at Hope. We deeply appreciate the love, prayers and memorials from all of you at Hope on the recent passing of our earthly father and mother, Naomi & Gilbert Tritch. Also the support of Pastor Jason Wagner who visited them regularly all the way to the end of their earthly life. Also special thanks to the Hope Harmonizers who occasionally sang for them and Solstice residents, support from the ladies groups from church, & shut in ministries. All of you were an example of Christ's love to them, their family, friends & acquaintances, and you have all been a great support in our lives, especially now as we continue on in our journey towards our heavenly home. We are so blessed! In Christ we have His blessings now and forever! Sincere Love and Thanks, The Tritch Family
On Thursday morning, two kittens were found in our
parking lot . They are both males, one is black and
one is grey, age is unknown. They seem very calm and
sweet. After one week they will be given to a shelter. If
anyone is interested in giving them a home,
please contact Julie Wagner.
