Hoosier Hikers Council 2016 Bicentennial Challenge Updated: Feb. 2, 2020 To celebrate Indiana’s 200th year as a state, the Hoosier Hikers Council had a challenge to hike 200 miles on natural surface hiking trails throughout Indiana. The list of trails below was assembled to assist in that endeavor, and includes mostly natural surface trails at least one mile in length. It is by no means a complete list of such trails in Indiana, but it is intended to provide hikers a good start! Be sure to click on the associated links to the right of each trail for more information. Note that the trails are arranged by geographic region so that you can more easily locate trails within a given area. The list also has a column for the county in which a trail is located. Following the list is a map of Indiana showing each of the regions and their counties. For those interested in Indiana geology, you might enjoy the second map at the end. It shows the main geological regions, e.g., the central till plain, northern moraine, etc., for each county. To celebrate Indiana’s 200th year as a state, the Hoosier Hikers Council had a challenge to hike 200 miles on natural surface hiking trails throughout Indiana. The list of trails below was assembled to assist in that endeavor,
and includes mostly natural surface trails at least one mile in length. It is by no means a complete list of such trails in Indiana, but it is intended to provide hikers a good start!
Be sure to click on the associated links to the right of each trail for more information.
Note that the trails are arranged by geographic region so that you can more easily locate trails within a given area. The list also has a column for the county in which a trail is located. Following the list is a map of Indiana showing each of the regions and their counties.
