Reception
This week children in Penguins and Turtles
have enthusiastically taken part in a range of
Discovery Time challenges including:
gardening, bike riding, ballet, birdwatching,
football, cooking, model-making, painting,
mini-beast finding, shop keeping, zoo keeping and Lego building! (To name but
a few!). There have also been many more creative reading ideas like this lovely
Firefighter's tent!
Year 3: Egyptian Project
Last week, Year 3 was set an Egyptian project.
There were so many fantastic examples from
mummified teddies to mummy jam strudels! This
is Kyle’s recreation of Tutankhamun’s mask and
as you can see he put a lot of time and effort into
it, and it looks amazing! It was extremely difficult
to pick just one example (you can see more on
3R’s blog) Well done 3R!
Extreme reading! Year 3 have been
sharing their more unusual (and rather
terrifying) reading places check out these
photos from Henry, Sophia, Kyle (with
ferrets!) and Oliver.
Year 3 in Action!
Well done to everyone who completed the challenge of doing a dramatic reading
of a book! Finty, Oliver and Alice were some of the ones who made it extra
dramatic by dressing up, acting out and singing! Watch them on our blog!
Year 3 were also asked to design an obstacle course around their home and
gardens. These have been absolutely amazing to see. Harry,
Chloe, Imogen and Ralph made some excellent examples and
are just a few of all the
incredible ones that we’ve
watched! The children
have also been creating
rainbows as a sign of
Hope for when we can all
be together again.

Don’t try this at home!!
Our School Values: LIGHT
Even though we are not all together at school we
think it is even more important to demonstrate that
we are thinking of others and showing our school
values of Love, Independence, Growth, Happiness
and Trust. Many children have been sharing
examples of this at home.
Reception pupils have enjoyed responding to the
R.E task about ‘New Life’ with drawings,
photos, dances and videos as well as continuing
with their topic about the farm (one family even went on a pretend school
trip to the farm in their back garden!) We have seen lots of examples of
times that they have been ‘shining lights’- showing our school values- and
responding to our theme last week with 'forgiveness hearts'.
The Great Year 6
Bake Off
Year 6 were challenged to bake cakes with
whatever they had left in the cupboard.
Here are a
few of their
amazing
creations.
Year 1
Year One have been
busy this week doing all
sorts of activities
including maths
investigations, writing, collective wor-
ship, light values and a scavenger hunt.

Year 5 and
the Easter Story
Year 5 have been
thinking about the
Easter story and all
the different events
that happened to
Jesus. They have
created story boards
to represent the sto-
ry. Here is just one
of many excellent
examples that were
shared on Seesaw.

Mathletics and the Mathletics Fairy

tasks. It really will make a difference to you in the future if you can keep on
top of your Maths! Congratulations to 1H and 2H who have topped the
leader board this week-joint first! The school has
achieved an amazing 209 certificates this week! That’s
incredible!! Keep it up!! Well done!!

a visit from the Mathletics Fairy.

those children who have
achieved a Gold Medal. So keep
working hard at earning your
points and you might get a
delivery from the Mathletics
Fairy too!
Maths links: Nrich have put
together a selection of Maths
links that they feel would
work well for pupils working at home. It is quite simply
called: Nrich Maths at Home and can be found on this link
-https://nrich.maths.org/14600. Some of these include
online interactive Maths games and some are simple
pencil and paper games– have a look!
Spellodrome and Readiwriter
I hope you are enjoying the games on Spellodrome. You
will be pleased to know that the school has now purchased
this resource so we will continue to use it for the coming
year. Log on and play some games.
Year 4 Shopping Challenge
One of the tasks for Year 4 this week
was to create their own shop.
Children had to make price labels,
receipts, coins and choose a shop
name. This helped them work out the
total price of items their customers were buying and the amount of change their
customers required. On Wednesday, we had a discount day where each shop had to
reduce their items by a chosen percentage. We were really impressed with the chal-
lenges they set themselves with some children reducing their items by 20% and 30%!
Art Research
This week we set the year 4 children the
challenge of researching the artist, Andy
Goldsworthy. They found out that he was born
on 26th July 1956, he lives in Cheshire and
creates art using natural materials. They then
had a go at creating some of their own artwork
using materials found in the garden.
Year 4 were also set the task of creating their name
using different PE exercises. It was quite a
challenge but good fun! Even the teachers created
their names and shared their videos too.

This week’s mystery…
Who is the Mathletics Fairy??
Year 2 Maths Challenge
Richard the Tiger has 29 pieces of meat. He
wanted to split it between his 2 friends- Lee the
Lion and Catherine the Crocodile.
Year 2 had to show how many ways this could
be done using a whole-part model.
Reading like a Teacher in Year 2
We challenged year 2 to read like a teacher!
They had to hold the book so their class could see, they had to read clearly with
expression, show pictures, explain the meaning of new words and ask questions
about the book. They could even set up
their own class of they wanted!
As Easter is
approaching we
wanted the class
to start making
Easter cards to
give to their
families as it is still important to
remember Easter and everything it stands for despite not being
in school.
Year 6 have been writing Spring Poems. Have a look at this
lovely example below by Izzy:
