THEATRE OUTINGS

Theatre Lovers, mark your calendars and get your tickets for our upcoming shows. As usual, the bus leaves from the Centre and returns you back after the show, no worries about parking. How lovely is that: friends to go with and no parking problems!

Friday, April 26: Another great play at Langham Court. Quartet is a charming, funny and poignant tale of four ageing opera singers. Cecily, Reggie and Wilfred reside in a magnificent retirement home for musicians and the rumour circling the halls is that a star is about to become a resident. Jean arrives and old rivalries resurface, secrets are revealed and chaos unfolds, but in true theatrical tradition… the show must go on! A celebration of the sunset years and the hilarity of growing old disgracefully. You may have seen the movie…. now see the original!

Date: April 26 Tickets: $29.00. Tickets now on sale until April 12th Bus departs: 6:45 pm Performance starts at 8:00 pm

Friday, May 24: St Luke’s Players is putting on another fun performance. This time it’s Things My Mother Taught Me. A story about Olivia and Cabe who have just driven halfway across the country to start a new life together. Both sets of parents are going to visit! Can a two bedroom apartment contain all the love, laughs, worry and wisdom? A funny and touching look at inter-generational relationships. This play has just about everything you'd want in a romantic comedy, all wrapped up with an appreciate-your-mother message.

Date: May 24 Tickets: $24.00. Tickets now on sale until May 11th.

Bus departs: 6:30 pm

Performance starts at 7:30 pm

BEADS & CARDS

Aaah, finally springtime! I don’t know about you, but I sure felt like this was a long winter.

The Beads and Card group have been keeping busy teaching each other all sorts of different card and bead work. What a great group!

We would like to thank everyone for their support when we had our mini craft sale last month. We were selling items even before we had finished setting up the table. That is awesome!

We are continuing to make more cards and jewelry. If you are looking for a special card we are sure to have it. Cards are only $4 each - such a deal.

Stop by Room 201 any Tuesday morning between 9 am and 11 am. Any one of us can help you.

GOLF

Golf will begin on Thursday, April 4th for all you wanna be golfers - while having fun and socializing at a well manicured course.

Tee-off is at 9 am at the Juan de Fuca 9-hole, par 3 course, located below the Seniors Centre.

As for our Seniors, don’t be intimidated, as we only count to six (6) on each hole. No matter if you are experienced or an amateur, we are there for you. Juan de Fuca golf course prices are very reasonable (just over $100.00 for 11 games) which are summer rates. The course is always well maintained.

We will be knocking balls around this course throughout the summer and usually finish sometime in September. By the way, there are no “Tiger Woods” playing with us. For further information, please contact Fred Parker at 250 642-4853, [email protected], or Jim Gregg at 250 474-3274, [email protected]

Quilting News Quilting with Marilyn

Well, here we are three (3) months into 2019….Wow!!! We have had a busy time so far this year with plans for more items for the Spring and Christmas Sales, Quilt Retreats and the list goes on. All the Quilt classes joined together for a one day sew-in and we had a great time. There were four options and everyone of those options was seen that Sunday. There were two different quilt patterns, one tube floor mat and the option to do ‘your own thing’. The Auditorium was full of very industrious quilters. We learned a lot, laughed a lot, ate a lot and sewed a lot. Couldn’t ask for a better day. In April we have the Spring Sale in the Front Hall, the completion of the Raffle quilt for the Centre, and there is the quilt show at Eagle Ridge put on by the Westshore Quilters Guild. All of this before Easter. The last part of April sees some travelling quilters come home and others going off on new adventures. What a group…….and hard to know who is planning what next. That is part of the fun of being at this stage of life - how very lucky we are. We are in room 202 on Wednesday from 9 am to 9 pm and Thursday from 12:30 pm to 9 pm. Drop in and see us. We would love to tell you all about our projects, our UFOs, our HSTs and our PHDs. There may be a lot of us, or there may be only a few at the moment you visit, but come in and we will introduce you to our world. Marilyn Fuller “Old quilters never die, they just go to pieces!”
